I use a Palm T3. They are cheap and older tech, but it works just fine. The drawback is battery life, which is about 4-5 hours. I have all kinds of references on mine from www.epocrates.com There are other sites with these services, so look around to see what fits you best. This site has free downloads with limited data bases. Look on ebay for older, but new PDA's. Good luck
IPHONE/POD-TOUCHthey have great free stuff that you can download such as skyscape, epocrates, flashcards, med calc, and more!
plus there is a whole bunch of new med/nursing apps coming very soon!
where can i download any of these programs? i currently own an IPHONE and plan on using it when i start school
I think I'm going to get the iPod Touch...not only does it have great nursing apps, but also all kinds of other cool stuff to help keep me organized. I think Skyscape has some kind of deal right now that if you buy an iPod Touch you get a $15 credit at their store. Not sure how it works, but it's on the Skyscape website.

Make sure that you have version 2.2 on your iphone, you can do that by pluging it into the computer, and opening itunes.
if you dont have just press update!
then go on your iphone there will be a blue icon called app store.
click on it, and then on the bottom of the screen click on categories,
they will come up, and then choose medical (it is the last one).
click on it, and then a list will apper, click on the tab "TOP FREE"
and start the joy!!!!

i got the free version of it, and it its great! (the combo is like 69 dollars with the discount that they will send you on your e-mail once you download the app)
but the free version together with the free epocrates (for drug interactions) is very good to help me!!!
i have been using it a lot, now that i am reading pharm!

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I am new to these boards. I am starting nursing school next month and see all sorts of info about needing a PDA. Can anyone reccomend a good one? Not really looking to spend $500 but something that gets the job done. Or what about a phone? I have a basic cell phone now but would it be wise to get one of the fancy ones? Do they have the ability to download the info like a PDA? I would rather go this route if possible. Sorry I am not very techno friendly, Weird seeing as I'm only 24! haha:bugeyes:
