Best nursing shoes? recommendations?

Published

I will graduate in June and have just started working 12-hour clinicals. I'm beginning to think I'm going to have to have my feet amputated--I've been working at a desk job for years and the time on my feet is killing me. Would love to hear what nursing shoes you think are the best. Thanks.

Dr. Scholl's clogs from Walmart come in only white of course. They cost $20.00, the most comfortable yet. ;)

I prefer sneakers over clogs or dress shoes. Rather than spending $60 q 3months, I spend $15 at walmart or KMart for no brand and they feel the same as Nikes. After 3 months or so no matter what the shoe brand is, they are worn out, smelly, and need to be quarnatined anyway. So, why spend a lot?

I love those shoes, but have to wear something with a closed back for school.

Z-coils are the best shoes I've ever owned. I couldn't make it through a 12-hour shift without them!

I'm considering these - how good are they?

Plus, anyone good a good solution for smelly feet? Besides wipe and powder? :imbar

Roy, you could try an anti-fungal ointment on your feet after washing them. All over and rubbed in really well. Anything for athlete's foot. And rotate shoes - don't wear the same pair two days in a row. Baking soda shaken into them will help neutralize odors.

Have heard of those that take the blow dryer to their feet after a shower to cure foot ailments.

You guys are the best :D Thanks! :)

Roy,

I once had a room mate that sprayed her shoes with lysol disinfectant after every shift.. outside and in.

Rotating your shoes everyday and changing socks should help a lot. A lot of commercially prepared foot powders are just fine for controling odor.

I've also seen Dr. Scholl's all white sneakers at Macys. You might check your local department store. I think there were about $40.

Try peroxiding your feet. Wash 'em, dry 'em, pour H2O2 over 'em, dry 'em.

Biggest thing, though, is rotating the shoes. Odor Eaters help, too.

I got a $20 pair of leather sneaks at WM for $20 and they're pretty good. EVERYTHING I buy almost gets a decent orthotic inserted, so it doesn't much matter. Just like the Scholl's clogs because they're the ONLY clogs that don't hurt me. I need a narrow toe for some bizarre reason.

Thanks.

I love Crocs.I have had mine for 2months, I work 3 12hr night shifts and would not wear anything else.
