I will be working in the NICU, so I know my hands will become dry from all the washing. Anyone have some suggestions for great hand lotions?
Thanks!

Thanks so much everyone for the great replies! I will definitely have to try some of them - at home, of course!

I've probably tried about 30 different hand lotions by now, many of which were recommended by others on AllNurses.com.
Current favorites: CO Bigelow Dr. Hiosous Quince Hand Lotion (available at Body & Bath - or is it Bath & Body?) used prior to work and halfway through the shift. Then when I go to bed I use one of the following 3: True Blue Spa Shea It Isn't So Foot Cream (available at Body & Bath), Crabtree & Evelyn Gardeners Hand Therapy, or O'Keeffe's Working Hands Overnight Relief (available at places like Walgreen's and Rite Aide).
I found it also helps to use a larger glove size whenever you can so that they aren't as irritating to the skin when you rip them off to run to your next task.

I am not ashamed to say that I own 2 Ped-Eggs (available at WalGreen's for $9.99 each). One is for my feet and my hands, the other is for the rest of my body.
Got dry skin? Get a Ped-Egg. It is totally gently where you need it to be and rough on the feet and hands.
I have come to the conclusion that my hands are far dirtier than my feet will ever be.

My hands used to crack along the edges all the time, no matter what lotion or cream I used. I started doing a paraffin wax dip 3x week and my hands are great now. You can buy a special appliance but it takes up room and takes a lot of time to heat. I just by blocks of plain paraffin wax at the grocery store, put it in a disposable pie tin, then in the oven at 200F right before I get into the shower and dip when I get out. Leave it on about 5-10 min then lotion of your choice afterward. Has worked wonders for me and my hands look younger

I get cracked hands often. It is not a matter of what lotion but sticking to a routine and process. Avoid soap and water when possible without compromising proper hand washing at work. When not at work cetaphil cleanser on your hands and wipe off with a towel and moisturize immediately with lubriderm, or aquaphor(or lotion you like). Cloth gloves at bedtime will help as well. When you shower, you need to moisturize immediately after as well as after any time you get your hands wet, as water dries your hands and eventually causes cracks increasing your chance of MRSA and other viruses and infections. In the winter when my hands are more suseptable to drying and cracking, I will exfoliate with a sugar and olive oil scrub a couple of times a week then immediately glob on vaseline and put cotton gloves over them. Good luck.

personally the best thing that i've found is the moisture therapy from avon. it's cheap and nothing beats it in the long cold, dry, michigan winters.
wonderful.. the silicone glove from avon is good too.

Eucerin has a new lotion out now....Eucerin Calming Creme.
It is fabulous! Great for dry, cracked and itchy skin...has oatmeal in it. Not greasy, either.
Changed my DH's hands from sandpaper to baby-bottom smooth.

I use Bath & Body Works True Blue Spa "Look Ma, New Hands" while at work. I've got everyone hooked on it.

Before I go to sleep tonight, I like use A&D original ointment. Some people find the smell offensive, but I don't mind it, and it's the only thing that takes care of my cracked / dry hands.

I like Udderly Smooth. It's great and non-greasy, and the package is cute too :)
I really love that lotion! At first I thought it was cute and inexpensive. This is the best lotion, great for those cracked hands and will heal after a couple of applications. I keep a bottle at home, in my locker and keep a small tube in my clipboard.
