Best area/ hospital to work in Florida

Published

I am starting to look for a new job somewhere in Florida. Currently I work as a MedSurg/telly nurse in North Central Florida and in June I will have been there a year. My husband and I have been wanting to move out of this area, we are just waiting for me to get a year of experience so I can find a decent job someplace else.

My daughter is seven years old. And my husband works from home. We do have some family in Orlando but we don't really want to live in Orlando. Nearby would be fine but don't want that large of a city. We also have some family in the Brooksville area too so maybe somewhere in between lol. St. Augustine would be nice too.

I guess I just want some feedback on what is out there- are there any hospitals that offer things like after school care for school aged kids, or gyms, things like that? I am a little nervous about this as we will be working mostly blind, will need to find a place to rent, a school and a job -everything with only a short visit or two and I don't want to find a place to rent without having a job but then I don't want to find a job and they're not be any places to rent nearby! Any suggestions are hot tips? Thanks in advance!

Polk County is not bad. Rents are pretty tolerable (2 bed/2 bath apartment in gated community for $800 a month) There are hospitals ranging in size from 70-odd beds to Lakeland Regional which is just plain huge. So far as kid care. i am not too sure since i don't have any, however the 3 decent size facilities here are all nonprofit and/or Baycare, and the benefits are quite good. Orlando and Brooksville/Dade City are close enough for family. Tampa is pretty handy for the big city fix.

Hope this helps.

St. John county its near St. Augustine and Jacksonville

Whatever you do don't come to NW Tampa. Especially Town and Country. I will say though that St. Joes Hosp is a nice hospital that only hires RN's.

Phew, I thought someone would get mad at me for saying Town and Country was ishy. Didn't used to be, it's getting much worse though. Where did you live over here?

Wait. Isn't Pinehurst over by Leto High? Near Sligh? The school that is painted like a flag is Bellamy over closer to Westchase area. On Wilsky.

I am going to be graduating in May 2016 and I am thinking about moving to the Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater area.

Can you say why you do not like Town and Country? I am new to the site so cannot PM yet. Not sure if I can receive PM's but if you are more comfortable sending a PM with your reply I would be most appreciative. If you have opinions where in Tampa are better area's to look I would also welcome those opinions.
