Bellevue College 2011

We might as well start getting to know eachother; since will spend the next 2 years together. Congrats to all who were accepted! I am soooo excited to finally get into nursing school after all the pre-reqs.

I am 46, have two kids ( boys-24 and 14) and live in Ravensdale. I will be starting this fall and look forward to meeting every one.

Before you know it we will all be :nurse:'s.

Hey everyone--I just graduated from BC's nursing program this week! Congrats on getting in. You'll have a great time and the next two years will fly by for you!

I have a lab coat (women's size 6--free if it fits you), and textbooks for sale (stack of previous editions you may need for the first quarter--$25 for the pile). I also have some cranberry scrubs--are you still wearing cranberry? Extra-small tops, small bottoms in great condition, Dickie's brand so the color won't match perfectly the cranberry of your classmates' scrubs, but they are free if they are your size.

Getting everything is expensive! But I found that many of my classmates had older editions of textbooks and it wasn't an issue for the most part. Don't be afraid to buy the older, much cheaper editions, and then when specific pages, rather than chapters, are assigned you can check with a classmate to determine the pages in your older edition.

PM me if you are interested in any of my stuff!

I am not allowed to post it. (Got into trouble with AN moderator for promoting social networking site...) I am PMing it to you. Anyone else interested, Please PM me. Look forward to seeing you there:)

Hi!

I just made it in for Winter Quarter. Is anyone else out there going to be working during their nursing school time? Has anyone talked to anyone that worked when they went to nursing school? I can hardly afford to quit but my job offered me a part time position and I wasn't sure how successful I would be in doing it. Any thoughts?

Admission: I've been lurking here for a while not making myself known. I was also accepted into the Fall 2011 program. I was in the front row at the classroom. I'll echo the comments of sitenbroeck in that I finally felt like I was in a nursing program (therefore doing something with my life) a couple days after that meeting on the 9th.

Rosie: Once I've "verified" myself, I'd like to get into the google group. As a side note, I have copied most of the handouts into google docs, if that helps with anything.

congrats to all who got into the program.can anyone tell me their gpa and test scores,please..Thanks

rokbe, you may wish to read "Bellevue College 2011 hopefuls" discussion. You can find all the information about GPA and Test scores there.

Does anyone know what class hours will be during the first semester? Are we supposed to have any clinicals?

Hi there, I am also in the Fall 2011 class and just found out about this site. After reading through the earlier posts, I see mention of another "group". I can't PM anyone because I don't have 15 posts. Could someone who does have the ability to PM, send me the name? Many thanks! I'm excited about starting this program but also scared witless! I just turned 50 and the brain just isn't what it used to be! Looking forward to working with everyone!

Hi all, I am in the winter admission. I'm 20 years old, live in Sammamish, work in surgery at the new Swedish hospital in Issaquah.

Winter orientation isn't until October, so I am anxiously awaiting any possible information! Did I read that some clinicals would be at Swedish? First hill campus or Cherry Hill campus? Any clinicals at Virginia Mason or Overlake? What are the schedules like? Details! Details! :p

Fall students, feel free to share any information you learned at orientation! I am anxious and a little impatient... October is so far away! :specs:

I dont have my schedule in front of me, but i did not want you to think your message was not heard. :) from what i remember:

Each person is assigned a clinical group and a team. (EX i am team 2 group B) You do not get a choice in the assignment and there is no switching, so prepare to be flexible.

lecture is 3 days a week starting at 8 or 830. on some days there is lab after. team 1 lab. then team 2 lab. i think they switch order sometimes so team 2 is not always waiting around. There is something on fridays, but i cannot remember what it is. No class on mondays. clinical starts 5 weeks in and is two days a week. Mine is mon/ tues morning. Some are thurs/fri am or pm. depends on the luck of the draw.

** feel free to edit me if i got the details wrong, but that is the gist

I dont know about the other clinical locations, but mine are on beacon hill @ the VA.

Thanks so much for the reply! That is great information!

So do you end up doing either lecture or clincal 5 days a week then? I was hoping to have one weekday off to work, because my department is not open on weekends. But that's okay! I understand that I have to be flexible, I will probably have to switch departments and work a weekend day.

Anyway... sounds fun! I am excited!
