Hey everyone, I didn't see a thread for this yet so I thought I would start one.
Is anyone else applying to BC for Fall 2014/Winter 2015 cohorts? I'm getting nervous with the deadline less than two months away. I did all my pre reqs there and it's my first choice school which probably adds to the nerves a bit. Are any of you finished with the application process yet? I think it's nice that this year, the background check is after the initial application just for the sake of saving money if I didn't score high enough on my TEAS to get in.
What number are you on the wait list? I don't know if you find out if you got bumped up( or what number you become), but you will get a phone call from Bellevue College most likely early June if you get bumped into winter cohort. People who were accepted into the program have until May 31st to accept their spot in the program. I think it might be fair game until then and the spots not taken get filled with wait list students.
congrats to all of you!!! I wanted to come back and congradulate you all. hopefully those on the waitlist will come through! I wanted to report whether my score was high enough to get on the waitlist ( i saw someone with a 81 on the wait-list at a high number)but i didn't get a letter.. I didn't really mind knowing or not so i didn't find out haha. best wishes!
Thanks, kkay. One more item on the Shorewood side of the scale.I seem to recall that Everett has an in with the UW Bothell RN to BSN program. Don't remember exactly what the details are. The commute distance is important to me because I need the study time. I'm not a brilliant student, just a plodder, and I need to put in the time with the books to do well. I imagine that as a mom AND a student, you'd really want to minimize time on the road.
Yes. The plan is to do the UW Bothell RN to BSN program if I get into Everett. It is one day a week for a year and starts in Fall after the RN program. I just signed up for classes for Fall at Shoreline in case I don't get in for Fall at Everett. I need to take my foreign language prerequisites for UW Bothell and I figure I'll get it out of the way so I don't have to take classes during my summer quarters of the nursing program. Besides those 2 classes I only have 2 others to complete and I'll have my AA-Transfer degree. Since it is taking forever to get into a program I might as well get that done in the mean time. I'm guessing by now you have probably accepted the Shoreline offer. It will be good to hear from you how you like the program once you start.

First, I like your plan. Smart way to cover your bases and keep your options open.
I have accepted the Shoreline offer because it was free to do so and the orientation is on June 4th so I'll know about all the non-tuition costs, class schedule, etc soon. However, I may also accept Bellevue on May 31 if Shoreline doesn't completely wow me so I can attend both orientations and get more information about clinicals and new grad hiring rates from each school before I decide. I'm concerned about employment once I get the cred. Now I understand why people were getting notices at the end of summer and early fall... people like me, keeping options open.
After going through all the agony and expense of applying, I want to make the best decision.
The good news, waiting list folks, is that the game is not over for you yet. Hope you all don't think I'm a bad guy for keeping some of you waiting.
SeattleJess: Good plan. I would probably do the same thing. Make sure the program you choose is right for you. That's nice that you don't have to pay to accept at Shoreline. It makes it a little easier to get more information. Plus you are able to be picky about your decision because you got into 2 schools. You should be proud of that and use it to your advantage. And don't worry about me waiting to find out about the waiting list. I don't plan on getting in anyhow. Lol. And then if I do happen to get lucky then I will be ecstatic.
Hi All,
I dont know what to say other than that I am very excited just to be on the waitlist. It gives me hope :). My numbe is 54....I know! that is just way out there with a slight chance of getting in and who knows maybe I am the last one on the waitlist seeing what a high number I have...but I am not losing hope and will hold my breath until I get an answer. And if its an acceptance or a turn down, then I will still be happy since I know that I made it on the waitlist atleast. All the best of luck to all of us on the waitlist and congrats to the ones who got in to the program :)

hopefulBE: I'm number 26 on the waitlist with a 79.3% on the TEAS. You will have to keep us posted if you get a call from Bellevue so us waitlisters know the call may be coming.

You will get the uniform requirements at orientation, and a uniform supply company the school uses for the embroidered jackets will be there so you can try stuff on. The jackets have to be ordered from them. The scrubs can be purchased anywhere that sells the right style and color, although you get a discount if you use them. Shoes just have to be black or white leather, and an appropriate style for the hospital. You can have some colored trim on them. A lot of us wear Danskos. Just find something really comfortable that will be safe to wear in the hospital.
