Bellevue College hopefuls 2014-2015

Published

Hey everyone, I didn't see a thread for this yet so I thought I would start one.

Is anyone else applying to BC for Fall 2014/Winter 2015 cohorts? I'm getting nervous with the deadline less than two months away. I did all my pre reqs there and it's my first choice school which probably adds to the nerves a bit. Are any of you finished with the application process yet? I think it's nice that this year, the background check is after the initial application just for the sake of saving money if I didn't score high enough on my TEAS to get in.

Just paid my deposit today!!! officially going to nursing school! This is so exciting :)

Hi guys!

I was trolling the message thread from last year's cohort, and someone posted this nifty trick to get Bellevue College emails on your smart phone! I got it to work on my iPhone :)

Connect your mobile device to Bellevue College email

Just hit the "add new account" button and select "Exchange."

Does anyone know if we still need to take intercultural communication? If so, I'm going to sign up for it soon! :)

Specializes in None yet..

My understanding is yes on intercultural communication. I had Stephanie Hurst online. She's a nice person and an easy grader.

Thanks SeattleJess. I figured as much. I was also planning on taking it online with Stephanie. Thanks for the tip. Does the class require a lot of books?

No, just one paperback textbook. I rented mine from Bookrenters. It wasn't anything I wanted to keep. Heads up, you will need to write a personalized "intercultural journal." Stephanie gives you the outline early in the class; it's an easy assignment if you just spend a few minutes after completing each chapter to answer the related questions. I got 140 out of 140 points. There's a weekly discussion and a couple easy quizzes. For the discussion, you choose a few concepts or definitions from the current chapter and give your own take on them. Just about every post got full credit. The best part was hearing from other students ~ we had a diverse class and I learned just as much, if not more, from other people's comments in the discussions.

Does anyone know the uniform requirement for clinicals? Specifics on color/style and shoe type? Thanks!

Hi - I'm in my final quarter - right now it's wine colored Cherokee scrubs (I don't have the exact style number with me); they will give you that information at orientation. Shoes were not specific; just black or white, I believe. You will also have to get an embroidered lab coat - again, info will be given at orientation :)

Quick question, if some of the fall people drop, do the winter people move up to fall? And then the waitlist people get put into winter? Just curious how all that works.

asp5, yep thats exactly how it works!

Also, just paid my deposit! :)

How do we kow if we get bumped up on the waiting list? Will they send us an email or letter every time you move a spot? Anyone have an idea?
