Bellevue College hopefuls 2014-2015

Published

Hey everyone, I didn't see a thread for this yet so I thought I would start one.

Is anyone else applying to BC for Fall 2014/Winter 2015 cohorts? I'm getting nervous with the deadline less than two months away. I did all my pre reqs there and it's my first choice school which probably adds to the nerves a bit. Are any of you finished with the application process yet? I think it's nice that this year, the background check is after the initial application just for the sake of saving money if I didn't score high enough on my TEAS to get in.

Specializes in None yet..
Do we have to submit our immunization records again by the July 31st deadline? Bit confused on that

I need to update my TB test; I'll do that over the next two weeks. When I submit it to Chie, I'll write a cover letter asking for confirmation that only updates of application materials that have expired or will expire during Fall quarter are required. Duplication doesn't make sense to me but if I hear we must do that, I'll let you all know.

Good question, Gottmilk!

When is the orientation for Fall quarter? For winter quarter, we don't have ours until October. I'll be curious to see the book list and supply list before that. :)

June 27. I can already tell its probably gonna be stressful trying to get all the correct books and supplies and such. Ahh!

I was wondering if anyone knows the amount of time nursing students spend on campus during a typical day. I know the program is super crazy, but I'm a mom with kids and we're trying to plan just how this will all work out. Also, anyone know what the clinical schedule tends to be like? Like, how many days of clinicals a week? I know the schedules change, but I'm hoping to get a rough idea. Thanks!

Congratulations everyone!

You will get complete class, lab, and clinical calendars well in advance of each quarter starting. You will have two days of clinicals each week. First quarter you will have three weeks of clinical and the rest will be 6 weeks of clinical. Your first quarter you will have more on campus day to begin with, since you do not have clinicals. I rarely spend full days on campus- it usually just a few hours a day, but there will be a few longer days. As I said, you will get your schedule well in advance. I think we got a tentative calendar at our orientation, although if you get one then be aware that it will probably change a little.

You will go over everything in orientation, but you will need to put all of your immunization info into the online tracking system they use. Other than that, you only have to update things as they expire (like TB and flu).

Does anyone have an idea of what our time schedules will be like for classes / clinicals?

SeattleJess: When are you supposed to hear from Shoreline?

Just paid my security deposit and created my BC email.... AHH THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING!!! :x3:

Theory class is usually for three or four hours in the morning. Some the Fundementals ones may go longer at first. Lab is often split up by group, at least for the practicing part, so it will depend on what group you are in and what you are learning that week (some things take a little longer than others), but it is usually for three or four hours too. You will not usually have theory and lab on the same day, but it does occasionally happen. Clinicals are for eight hours, and you will either be on days or evenings. The exact hours for those depends on which hospital you are at. Like I said before, you will get a calendar that will give you the schedule for the whole quarter.

Jenngirl34, you are SO helpful! Thanks for the insight!! :) do you know how they choose who gets days/evening clinicals?
