Bellevue College hopefuls 2014-2015

Published

Hey everyone, I didn't see a thread for this yet so I thought I would start one.

Is anyone else applying to BC for Fall 2014/Winter 2015 cohorts? I'm getting nervous with the deadline less than two months away. I did all my pre reqs there and it's my first choice school which probably adds to the nerves a bit. Are any of you finished with the application process yet? I think it's nice that this year, the background check is after the initial application just for the sake of saving money if I didn't score high enough on my TEAS to get in.

Congrats, asl and Stephmonster! I think it's great that the strong support that started here is consolidating into the fall cohort. I went to the Shoreline orientation yesterday where a panel of second-year students talked to us. (Great idea, I hope Bellevue does it, too.) Everyone stressed that there is too much material to get through on your own and that you must have a study group. Hope everyone finds a kick-butt study group!

Just got a call from Chie! I'm in for Winter cohort! for those of you on waitlist I was number #7 so if you were close to that, I hope you receive a call!!! Yay!!!!!!

I got a call from Chie on the 6th also! I'm in for winter :-) I was 4th on the wait list, 84% on TEAS. Gook luck to everyone waiting for a call!

That means I have moved up to at least number 20 on the waitlist then, if you got in being number 7!

I guess that means I am now #19. Thanks for letting us know soapybby and seattle0212 and Congratulations!!!! I bet you are both soooo excited!

Hey all! I have lurked basically since this thread started but seeing all of you hopefuls post inspired me. I have an 82.9 teas score and the last time I asked I was 15 on the wait list- hopefully I can get into the winter cohort.

I just called Chie today (who is perhaps the nicest lady at Bellevue college) and she said they were still in the process of contacting people and working out numbers. I wish everyone the best! Really excited to see if I get in. I applied to Seattle central's program and haven't heard from them other than a letter saying I was on their waitlist as well.

I can't remember if Bellevue has 2nd year students answer question at the orientation or if they do at the success workshop right before the quarter starts, but they did have 2nd year students come in and talk with us. It was really nice, and they were able to answer a lot of questions for us. I think most of the questions my cohort asked them were about clinicals, as that is what I think we were most nervous about at the time.

As far as study groups go, they can either be very helpful or very unhelpful. It really depends on the people you choose to study with and how you personally learn best. I mostly study independently, and join in with a few others here and there. You will really just have to find what works best for you.

Thanks, Jenngirl, it's reassuring to me that students make it through without study groups! The panel was pretty united in saying that there was too much material the first year for anyone to make it through on her own. I know how to concentrate on the key issues and to avoid the fluff pretty well, so maybe I can ride the wave of material on my own.

I studied on my own for the prerequisites. The one and only study group I was in was a review for A&P 242 final and I found that not to be an efficient use of my time. I'll keep my eyes and mind open... but my hopes low. Thanks again!

Wait List People, I just emailed Chie to decline my spot in the Fall 2014 cohort. I would have procrastinated about a decision until the Bellevue orientation just to feed my addiction to choice but that email we got requiring us to TYPE forms put me over the edge. I don't own a typewriter, know anyone who owns one or have one available at any library or friendly business in my area. Yipes, using a typewriter is about as easy as scratching with a stick on a clay tablet!

Bottom line is that I remember how awful waiting was and I feel good about sparing another person an even worse period of waiting.

So a winter person will soon be getting a chance to move to fall and a waitlist person will soon get a chance to move to winter. I sure hope it's one of you.

Wishing you all the very, very best in school and careers.

I stopped by and talked with Chie today. She mentioned she will be sending things out next week to update people on where they are on the waitlist. I asked her where I am right now and I've moved from 27 at the beginning to number 14. So that is a good sign so far. Just wanted to update you guys on the waitlist.

Any wait listers or other people accepted into the program know the website to pay the deposit? I can't seem to find it in the email and haven't received the acceptance letter in the mail yet.

Just use the regular registration link on the college website. You should have received an email from Chie with an attachment giving you instructions on how to register. There is a registration code in it to use in the "item number" box to register your deposit. Here's a link to registration help you after your find your email:
