Hello all,
I just got an email with an acceptance to the Bellarmine May 2021 cohort! I wanted some advice from those who have attended or will also be attending the school this year! I am from NYC and I have my Bachelors degree from a few years back. I am hesitant because I was reading some reviews about the nursing school (some good and some bad). Is there anyone else from the east cost planning on attending Bellarmine? Is there any advice anyone can provide from either previously attending or currently attending this school? I was accepted "conditionally" and it required me to take a CNA course, but that would cost me money for the course- I don't know what to do as I am worried about spending this money and spending more for the nursing school!! Please feel free to leave any comments, I appreciate you guys!

I just got accepted too! I am coming from California. I am still debating if I should attend because of some of the reviews. I am also worried about whether this program will meet the educational requirements for California because I want to be licensed there. It's so much money! And I am planning to take pathophysiology on portage learning so I can ease the work load. I found this Youtube review of the bellarmine ABSN program to be helpful. She is from NY too. How long did it take for you to be accepted into the program after you submitted your application?
Yay! Same, the reviews were scaring me ? I also want to have my license in NY instead of Kentucky and looked up to see if its accepted but they said we had to submit the transcripts in AFTER we are done so they can confirm. I was honestly losing hope in applying to schools and just applied to Bellarmine around a week ago and got accepted. Are they making you take a CNA course too? IDK what to do about that because thats like 1k for the course. I also have to plan out living situations all by May if I were to attend.
OMG that's exactly what happened to me! I applied to so many masters entry programs and didn't get in. I decided to apply to Bellarmine last Sunday and I got accepted this past Thursday LOL it threw me off a bit how fast they got back with a decision.
That not fair! How will you know if you can practice there. I am going to CA RN office tomorrow to see if they could tell me anything but I feel like they will say the same thing to me.
Yeah I have to take the CNA course too. ?
At least we have the first 3 months free so that's good!
yeah, I actually called the nursing board for NYC this morning and thats what they told me. The program starts May 3 right? So we have less than 3 months to finish the CNA course! Im attending the virtual session tmr evening and will ask a bunch of questions! Are you also attending? Its at 7 pm!

Disclaimer: I am not a student but a nursing educator and I worked for Bellarmine part-time for 5 years as a clinical instructor. Also, I did not attend Bellarmine. First off, the money is big, needing a CNA is big and the time invested in the accelerated BSN program is mind altering big! As for credits transferring I cannot imagine that Bellarmine's would not transfer anywhere in the U.S. Bellarmine is relatively small with an awesome campus, the student culture there is welcoming, their athletics are competitive and it just "feels good" there. I know students who have left and went back home from New York to California and they are proud to be called alumni. It's a tough program and if I had it all to do over again I would have went to Bellarmine. Good luck and remember, that wherever you go you should be held to the same standards.
