Hey! I'm looking into applying soon for the spring 2020 semester and was just curious how the program is? Also if they mostly just take the PAX RN score into consideration and not GPA. What was everyones scores when they applied and how did you study for the PAX?

I can't attest to the program yet considering I just got accepted, but I can tell you they just look at PAX scores unless there is a tie. Given a tie they will then move to GPA. I got a 141 and I ordered a PAX study book off amazon.

ah okay! thank you. Im taking it next month, considering I'm from out of state and just heard about this test I have no idea what a really good score is or what to even expect. I'm hoping to get in for the spring semester. My GPA isn't perfect which is why I'm hoping I get a really good score on it. I did buy the study book and will start studying that. I take it august 16th. Do you start this fall?

The math is pretty basic. Fractions, simple algebra, some conversions, I think I had one factoring problem. Reading is just analyzing a paragraph. Vocab is taking a word and matching it with it's closest synonym. Like frightened is most closely associated with what word. A. Happy B. Sad C. Scared. D. Confused. The words are a little more robust then that but you get the idea. Science is broad so just study the guide. I was told 130 is the magic number, but obviously they couldn't guarantee anything. You can now take it multiple times so if you don't get the score you want the first time don't freak out. Yes I start this fall and I am super nervous! LOL.

You will do great! congrats! What was your gpa if you don't mind me asking?

It was a 3.9 for the pre reqs and a 3.6 overall I think. Somewhere around there.

I'm applying for spring 2020 as well! This is so exciting. I have a 3.6 gpa and made a 120 on the pax. I took the pax back in june and just went to look at my score again and saw this message...

"NLN is conducting a quality review on all reports. Until the review is complete the reports will be unavailable. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

Not sure what that means so I will keep an eye on it. I bought a few study books but didn't get around to using them so I'm studying them now. I ran out of time on the verbal section (this really broke my heart!) and so next time I'll really focus on making sure I answer all of the vocabulary questions. Good luck to you! I pray we both make it in!

Okay so I took the PAX and got a 120... not really what I was hoping for. Probably am gonna take again in 6 weeks. Science really killed me and math was my perfect score! I was also wondering if there was an average or lowest score they usually accept with? I tried calling them today to ask but they must’ve already been closed for the day.

Omg I forgot to add I started panicking on the verbal section. It is NOT enough time for all of those questions especially with all that reading.

Yeah that verbal is no joke! I swear that is not enough time. But I've called and asked if I should retake that pax and the lady told me should couldn't tell me if I should or shouldn't. She said that she's seen people get in with a score less than that but you never know what other people are applying with this cycle.

I figured they’d say something like that! I think I’m just gonna take it again since I have enough time until October. Better than taking a risk! Are you applying for spring too?

Yea I will too! I am hoping to apply for spring but i'm not done with the cna requirement. I was told that even though the class ends in November that it still may not be enough time to take the state exam and get on the registry. I'm praying that it is plenty of time!
