Bonuses seem only to apply for new sign-ons or those who bring them in. ......retention is a sore issue w/many of us, not the least of whom is me. IT MAKES ME ANGRY THAT A NEW SIGN-ON can bring in as much as 10K or more just to sign on but the "oldies, the tried and true" get NADA!
UGH no wonder everyone is hospital-hopping and doing agency work. Oh well, that has been addressed here in other threads. I guess I answered your question...congrats on your well-deserved bonus. I think they could have added a zero or two to it....but oh well. Some better than NONE, which is what I am seeing.

In my 8 years of nursing, today I have been truly surprised. I work for a teaching hospital that is also our "county hospital." It is the 2nd teaching hospital I've worked for in my career. You know the story, always strapped for money due to caring for indigent patients, medicare, medicaid, etc. A few minutes ago I was handed an envelope containing a check. Payday is a week away, so we asked, what's this? A check! Each full- & part-time employee was rewarded with a check. After taxes, it was 200.00!
We rec'd a handout from our President & CEO linking our "dedication and hard work" to a "positive impact on the financial bottom line." Maybe some of you out there get bigger bonuses, but this is a first for most of us here! This has been a VERY good Friday thus far!
So, realizing that many of you out there in nursing-land have had experiences vastly different from mine, are bonuses normal? I am curious.
Have a great weekend ya'll!
