Be honest, when do you start working on your CEUs?

Published

Are you the "Oh %^&# I have to get my CEUs" 2 weeks before they are due (seen that)?

Slow and steady?

Some here and some there?

Get it done ASAP?

Oh you mean the "How to make a paper swan from a patient's  dinner menu": 1 CEU type

I always believed the object of requiring evidence of continuing education relevant to nursing for continued licensure was to elevate nursing practice. That's good for your career. Just me, though.

I do know some who have their kids (high school) or spouses finish their CEUs. That's obviously wrong.

Agreed. That’s why I do them ahead too, so I can spend time finding ones that are relevant and interesting and not just do whatever packet gets sent to me. I don’t spend any time worrying about what other nurses do or whether they’re “cheating the system” or whatever either.

They still could beg you to tell them the answers if they bought the exact same package.

I imagine Dr. House paying some resident to completed his CME for him or arguing why he shouldn't have to do them.

That’s so bizarre. I’ve never had this happen.

I know huh, but it's true. Some on my unit will share. I've been asked, I politely say no. Some accept it, while some get offended "why not?" I don't casually say at work that I've finished my CEUs ahead of time anymore. I don't want to deal with people "Really? Which ones can I have the answers?".

Well it takes me a few hours . But yes its usually done the night before and day of my renewal

I am in Florida. Using the CEUbroker makes things easier for sure

Last year was year one of nursing for me so I don't have a wide breadth of experience with getting CEUs done.

A few days in January, I knocked out all 120 hours of my CEU requirements. They're due in mid-Summer, but I haven't even started my next round of CEUs. I'm going through a very rough time and seriously considering leaving my unit and have actually applied for a few jobs, but no bites yet. I'm actually hoping that I won't have to do CEUs this year because I won't be on this unit anymore.

Edited to add: We only have unit specific CEUs, no employer or state CEU requirements.
