Hi Everyone!
I just decided to make this thread because I'm looking for some advice/insight on what more to do to get into the BCIT Nursing Program. I'm finishing up my last pre-req (BPK 325 at SFU) this semester and want to apply for the January 2016 intake. I have recently started volunteering at Nursing home and will have 50 hours by June and I currently have 50+ hours volunteering with the city of Surrey.
Any advice would be great! Thanks :)
Hi freelikeair,
I believe only the 6 credits (general education) can be transferred from your previous post-secondary credits. The first thing you should do is to finish IECS provided by BCIT. Like you, BCIT accepts my previous post-secondary credits which I completed in my home country. and I am now in department review.
Cheers.
I was going to apply for the Auguest 2015 intake but my pre reqs didn't make it too!
My gpa for courses other than the bio ones are A averages but I'm afraid my B- and C+ in the biology courses will affect my application significantly :/ Overall, I'm at 2.8 cgpa and 200+ volunteer hours.
I heard from the academic advisor during the August 2015 intake that you're pretty much guaranteed to get in with 100+ hours of experience, 3.0 cgpa, and don't mess up the shortlisting questionaire too badly. I noticed that for this intake, this changed their preference from "related volunteer experience" to just "related experience." In that case, I included my work experience.
Did anyone else include their work experience in their application or heard from the academic advisors?

Hello!! I am a hs graduate and I'm really needing some advice on nursing. I've already applied on 2 pre req courses in BCIT (English and Psych) But I still feel nervous. I don't have any volunteer hours yet and I just want to ask where you volunteered and how many hours are needed. Thank you!!!
