BCIT Nursing January 2016 Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi Everyone!

I just decided to make this thread because I'm looking for some advice/insight on what more to do to get into the BCIT Nursing Program. I'm finishing up my last pre-req (BPK 325 at SFU) this semester and want to apply for the January 2016 intake. I have recently started volunteering at Nursing home and will have 50 hours by June and I currently have 50+ hours volunteering with the city of Surrey.

Any advice would be great! Thanks :)

I'm shooting for the August 2016 Intake! I also study at SFU(woot!) but rather than taking the Anatomy and Physiology courses at SFU, I'm thinking of taking them at CapU cause I'd only have to take 2 courses instead of 3. Do you know the specifics of how BCIT converts post-secondary grades? There's some info at BCIT : : Admission & Registration : : Post-Secondary Course Equivalencies but it doesn't include any +/- for A or B grades. I wish the website had a GPA conversion calculator!

Hi Guys,

I am currently a post secondary student and I plan on applying to Bcit once I get my prereqs together. Could you guys please tell me exactly what to focus on and what Bcit looks for in your application.

Thank You!!

Hey guys, I am currently taking all the pre-reqs to hopefully enter August 2016 intake too! I only got started by taking Bio 11, and starting Bio 12 next week, so, needless to say the road is going to be a long one! However, I'm starting to wonder if any of you who's reading this and has already been thru the whole application process at BCIT knows if the 18 general post-secondary credits can have been taken in another country and in a completely different field (in my case, I have 180 credits with my Bachelor of Arts - Major English from France). Also, wondering what kind of jobs everyone is doing while they are still taking their prereqs? It's nice to e-meet all of you future nursing students! I wish us all lots of luck!

Hi, i got my bachelor degree overseas as well. My background is health-related field. I have taken psychology in my home country, just wondering do i require to take psychology in Canadian univeristy again?

Hey guys, I wanted to apply to the Sept intake but I couldn't get my anatomy transcript in time sooo here I am. I just got rejected from another school so I have my fingers crossed for this! My grades and work experience were enough to get me to an interview at the last school but I didn't pass the interview.

Hope we can all help each other and get in!

Hi Everyone!

I applied to UBC's program and was hoping I would be getting in, but unfortunately after the interviews I am on the wait list and not within the top 10 so I will be applying to January 2016 intake for BCIT. I have a volunteered at a hospital for over a year now, have some clinical experience in a medical practice and work as a office manager currently. I completed the healthcare management program at BCIT last year, and previous to that I have a health degree from UBC. I just upgraded Human anatomy & phys because mine are from first year which is (ugh) 7 years ago now. I am really banking on BCIT for January. I also need to upgrade my highschool math because I dont have a university math just stats and BCIT advised they wont look at it.

Hi Bee_Van5,

I am going to apply for Jan 2016 BCIT as well. Currently, I am taking ENGL 1177, and going to take physiology and anatomy challenge exam! I graduated from university about 10 years ago, and I worked for acute unit in hospitals, long-term care and clinical research for about 5 years., However, I haven't worked for almost 4 years because I have kids to take care in recent years. Anyway, I don't know if this 4 years non-working status would affect me getting into to the program. I don't really know what nursing department is really looking for. I will keep posted and good luck on your journey to become a nurse

Hello Everyone

Thanks for making this thread.I was followed this thread from last many days .I am also interested in applying for Jan 2016 session and under the process of completion of my pre req .

Hello Everyone!

I just have a questions regarding the grading scale BCIT uses to determine the competitive average average average average applying. I have completed all of my prerequisites and currently in the process of applying to multiple nursing programs. I was just wondering if anyone knows the BCIT grading scale to convert your GPA into percentage?

Good luck to everyone!

Hello everyone!

I'm in the process of filling in the questionnaire and I'm wondering how much you guys are writing?

Hope everyone's enjoying the summer :)

Hey guys, I just paid the registration fee and submitted my application for Jan 2016. I'm really scared as my grades at UBC have been pretty bad, but I exceed all requirements for the required courses for BCIT. I'm also graduating in November from UBC so hopefully that'll boost my status. ;_; fingers crossed everyone.
