Hi Everyone!
I just decided to make this thread because I'm looking for some advice/insight on what more to do to get into the BCIT Nursing Program. I'm finishing up my last pre-req (BPK 325 at SFU) this semester and want to apply for the January 2016 intake. I have recently started volunteering at Nursing home and will have 50 hours by June and I currently have 50+ hours volunteering with the city of Surrey.
Any advice would be great! Thanks :)
Hello! I too am trying to get into the nursing program at BCIT and I just have a question. Have you ever failed a course? I'm abit worried because I failed one elective but my other electives were 80% at the minimum.
Im confused how the school calculates the average to get in. I have a transcript with a few failed classes from my first year. But then the classes they require are all A's. Do they look at my other grades?
Hi Cbrook,I think I read that you got accepted to BCIT! Congratulations!
Do you mind sharing a bit of information on the additional questionnaire? Do you remember the types of questions they asked and is there anything we can do to prepare for them?
Any information from anyone else would be welcomed as well!!
Thanks everyone!
The questions were based upon the BC nursing requisite and competencies doc. You can find this under the BCIT nursing website. I used those key skills/traits as my reference point and then wrote out my specific work/life/volunteer experiences that demonstrated these skills.
The questions were written in a standard interview format. Like, give me an example when you demonstrated leadership and explain why. Things like that was asked in the questionnaire.
I got accepted into the fall 2016 program. Does anyone know if there is a Facebook page?
hope this helped!
Hi stpaul,
Just wondered how it went for you and if you were able to apply successfully and be accepted into the BCIT program? Since i know you have a bachelor from overseas, i was wondering if you just submitted a comprehensive report to describe the courses you completed so that they could be counted as your General Electives or if you had to take more courses at University level here before you could apply? Thanks for your feedback. I am almost done my pre-requisites but I am worried about the General Electives. I have a bachelor of English from France and One year of Master which I completed, in total i have at least 200 credits but I dont know if they fall into the General Electives Category.
Hi Wendy0516,
Sorry I was away from the forum for too long and did not reply to you and thank you so much for your advice. May I ask you what 6 credits of general education they accepted for your application and if your 6 credits were from 2 different academic areas or the same academic area but just 2 different courses?
Thanks a LOT!
Hey mintbows8! Just wondering since im a student from sfu too, how did you submit your transcript to BCIT? Theres no electronic copy that can be sent and BCIT wants a PDF.. did you end up opening your official transcript and scanning it in? (doesn't that make it unofficial) just wondering, if not ill call bcit.. thank you!
Hi guys,
I'm well aware that most of you are probably not watching this thread anymore, but I have a question. I am starting this Jan and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations about which textbooks are useful and which ones are not. The list is super expensive so I'm looking to cut expenses.
Thanks :)
