BCIT nursing applicant August 2016 intake

World Canada CA Programs

Hello AN community! Can you please relieve my stress about having a chance to get in to BCIT? what gpa do I need? I admit I am not the perfect straight A student but I have work and volunteer experience so I am hoping my experience will support my acceptance - is that naive?

Hi AndreaS22,

How do you think the 2 programs compare? I'm leaning towards BCIT because you can specialize!

Hi leefion, I'm not too certain about how they compare. From what I have heard BCIT is known for being an incredible program as well as the opportunity to specialize. I haven't personally heard much about Langaras program. I have a feeling based on the specializing that BCIT may be a bit more challenging than Langara but thats just my assumption. Sorry I don't have more specifics! Good luck with your applications!

Hi everyone! I've applied for both BCIT and Langara as well. Good luck : )

Hey guys! I've applied to BCIT for fall as well. I was accepted to school in Calgary but then my boyfriend accepted a job in Vancouver so fingers crossed! I'm curious about GPA and experience as well. I have about 5 months work experience in a medical clinic and roughly a 3.30 GPA. I'm worried about not having much volunteer experience as I've noticed it seemed to be an asset in previous years. Good luck to everyone and hopefully I'll be meeting you all in the fall!

Has anyone heard anything from BCIT yet?

Hi Andrea,

Yes, I got accepted but that is because I deferred my offer from January 2016 intake. I think applications were due end of February? So it might take a while for them to go through all the applications. Maybe hear back end of March/beginning of April? :)

Congrats @leefion ! That's very exciting. No news yet on this end, based on previous years' posts I think we should be hearing back around the beginning of April. Fingers crossed!

Thanks Chantal! I hope you hear back soon :)

Has anyone been shortlisted? And has anyone written the questions before?

Any advice on how to word the answers or examples of the type of questions they ask?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Ive been shortlisted!!!! Check your BCIT email people!!!! I got an email at 315 this afternoon :) I have never written the questionnaire so unfortunately I don't have any advise ipascu.

I got shortlisted as well! It's my first time applying so I'm pretty worried about the questionnaire too!

I saw in past posts that the CRNBC links they sent us are helpful

Congrats to those who got shortlisted! :)

I wrote the questionnaire last year and from what I remember, they were short answer questions such as "describe a situation where you had to show leadership" or "describe a situation where you demonstrated teamwork and collaboration"

can't remember the exact questions but I hope that helps!! (also not sure if they use the same questions every year)
