Hey everyone, I know the BCIT January 2019 admission deadline is still a ways to go but I just wanted to know how many people are planning to apply, and also exchange some advice and questions with each other.
First off, I'd like to show you what I am applying with:
Highschool reqs
Precalc 12 - 99
CHEM 11 - 86
UNI reqs (UBC)
ENG112 - 74 (B)
PSYC101 - 72 (B)
CPSC - 86 (A)
STAT - 82 (A-)
A&P1 - TBD
A&P2 - TBD
I'm taking A&P in the Summer
experiences
- senior home (occupational therapy) volunteer
- first aid volunteer
- pharmacy assistant volunteer
Here are my questions:
Does BCIT determine your GPA based on your own university's grading scale? Or their own? And also, I'm not too sure about how to calculate GPA, since there are so many different scales online. Can anyone provide an accurate estimate of my GPA?
Does number of hours you've volunteered matter? Or do they consider it by months? Because I don't see a box where you input how many hours in the form.
How strong does my application look so far, and any advice?
Hey everyone, I just submitted my application for the January intake!
High School:
Chemistry 11 - A
Pre-calculus 12 - A
Douglas College:
Engl 1130 - B-
Biol 1103 - A
Biol 1203 - A
Psyc 1100 - A-
Electives: Crim 1100 & Math 1160 - A+
I applied with 58 credits. My pre-req GPA is 3.83 and my cGPA is 3.82. I have health-care work experience as a caregiver with Nurse Next Door and 3 years of experience as a team-leader at McDonald's. I also have volunteering experience in athletic leadership and 200+ hours at a senior's retirement home. The only thing I wish I could add to my application are the LIBS 7001 & 7021 courses, but I'm taking them this fall instead. Good luck to everyone applying!
This is where I found the information.
Just confused on which one to follow as the extra month would really help.

You can always ask an academic advisor for confirmation but I recommend following the requirements directly from the BCIT Nursing page: 400 Bad Request
Hey guys! I applied for the January 2019 intake, just wondering, does anyone know when they will be sending emails regarding the "step 2" of the application process? The wait is killling meeeeee! Especially after reading the post about the percentage of people they accept without a previous degree
I looked at the BCIT January 2018 intake forum on allnurses to see what dates people started seeing changes in their application status. What I have written down is September 20th: majority of people were short-listed. October 10th: final short-listed applicants. October 12-19: online quiz. October 31st: final status (accept or non-accept). I doubt these are 100% accurate but I hope it gives you a rough idea! I'm super nervous about not having a degree too.. what did you apply with?

Oh, sorry to worry you but no, that hasn't changed! Starting for 2018 intakes, BCIT stated that any of the A&P courses must have been completed from the Fall 2014 semester onwards. So, it's pretty much the same as the 3 years time limit they had but I know a couple of people who couldn't apply by this August 31st deadline because of that change.
