BCIT January/April 2019 Intake Discussion

Published

Hey everyone, I know the BCIT January 2019 admission deadline is still a ways to go but I just wanted to know how many people are planning to apply, and also exchange some advice and questions with each other.

First off, I'd like to show you what I am applying with:

Highschool reqs

Precalc 12 - 99

CHEM 11 - 86

UNI reqs (UBC)

ENG112 - 74 (B)

PSYC101 - 72 (B)

CPSC - 86 (A)

STAT - 82 (A-)

A&P1 - TBD

A&P2 - TBD

I'm taking A&P in the Summer

experiences

- senior home (occupational therapy) volunteer

- first aid volunteer

- pharmacy assistant volunteer

Here are my questions:

Does BCIT determine your GPA based on your own university's grading scale? Or their own? And also, I'm not too sure about how to calculate GPA, since there are so many different scales online. Can anyone provide an accurate estimate of my GPA?

Does number of hours you've volunteered matter? Or do they consider it by months? Because I don't see a box where you input how many hours in the form.

How strong does my application look so far, and any advice?

I emailed BCIT they said there are 40 people on the waitlist currently and the last day applicants would be called is January 7 and April 29.

Waiting game is tough but stay in there everybody !

So since the deadline for September 2019 intake is end of February, we would have to withdraw from the April waitlist to apply for September?

Hello Everyone,

It is great to see so many people with such great credentials intending to get into the nursing program. I wanted to get you guys's reviews as to what are my chances getting into the program.

High school

Math : A+

Chem: B+

PSYC: B+

Soci: A-

A&P I&II: B-

Overall GPA: 3.14

Degree : Bachelor of physiotherapy from India but evaluated by ICES @ BCIT with over 100 credits.

Over 1000 hours in volunteer internship @ 6 different hospitals and 6 Years of work experience from working in a bank.

I wanted to get an idea if I do have a chance to get into the program.

Thanks in advance :)

I believe so, you are only allowed 1 application at a time.

You application looks good imo, just make sure your post secondary courses transfers over for the prerequisites!

I have redone the prerequisites courses, the post secondary degree is for the extra credits. Also it was evaluated by ICES@ BCIT, and they said it is equivalent to a degree done here.

Also, I am taking LIBS 7002 this January, wont be able to finish it before april, but is it worth it to mention ion the application?

Thanks

Then your application is fine! And as for LIBS, you don't need to mention it because they will have access to the classes you are taking at bcit so they will know. Good luck on your application!

Deadline to reserve a seat in the April 2019 intake is December 7th. So possibly those on the wait list might hear soon.

how did you know this? So I assume people won't get into the Jan 2019 intake?

I do know someone who got excepted into the Jan intake, but postponed to start until April...Has anyone from the "top 15" been given a spot yet? I wonder if they are waiting to see how many people reserve their seat for April, then fill the spaces after?? The waiting is so hard!!!

No word yet :(

I wonder how full April intake is right now

Oh wow, that's pretty soon! Thanks for the info :)

Hmm, yeah maybe. I thought the deadline to defer to April was mid-November so I'm surprised that no one has heard yet from the top 15. But knowing at least one person has dropped their seat for January is amazing news for whoever is #1 on the waitlist!
