Hey everyone, I know the BCIT January 2019 admission deadline is still a ways to go but I just wanted to know how many people are planning to apply, and also exchange some advice and questions with each other.
First off, I'd like to show you what I am applying with:
Highschool reqs
Precalc 12 - 99
CHEM 11 - 86
UNI reqs (UBC)
ENG112 - 74 (B)
PSYC101 - 72 (B)
CPSC - 86 (A)
STAT - 82 (A-)
A&P1 - TBD
A&P2 - TBD
I'm taking A&P in the Summer
experiences
- senior home (occupational therapy) volunteer
- first aid volunteer
- pharmacy assistant volunteer
Here are my questions:
Does BCIT determine your GPA based on your own university's grading scale? Or their own? And also, I'm not too sure about how to calculate GPA, since there are so many different scales online. Can anyone provide an accurate estimate of my GPA?
Does number of hours you've volunteered matter? Or do they consider it by months? Because I don't see a box where you input how many hours in the form.
How strong does my application look so far, and any advice?
Hey everyone!! Has anyone heard anything back yet?!?!? This waiting is so stressful! I thought we would have heard back by now considering classes begin in less than a month. It's not a very good system, especially for those who may have to make living/work accommodations that take some time and not just a few days notice...
I have not heard back either. I was really hoping it would be this week, so I know if I need to pay my tuition at Langara for the January term (i'm taking a full course load if I don't get into the Jan intake at BCIT). This has been such a stressful process! Hoping we hear back soon!!!
Has anyone tried calling by any chance to inquire about the waitlist hearing back?
I haven't tried calling but I might some time next week. Did they ever respond to the email you sent them? I just don't understand why they keep the waitlist until the end of the first week of classes. That's a lot of material that students would be behind in...

Nope they haven't responded. I am assuming they are busy marking finals since it was a week ago. Hopefully the first week of nursing school isn't too hectic so theres time catching up :/
AHHH! I got accepted into the April 2019 intake aswell!! I agree wee should start a Faceboook group, I can if no one else wants too. Congrats everyone!! so excited to start this journey with you all!
