Hey everyone, I know the BCIT January 2019 admission deadline is still a ways to go but I just wanted to know how many people are planning to apply, and also exchange some advice and questions with each other.
First off, I'd like to show you what I am applying with:
Highschool reqs
Precalc 12 - 99
CHEM 11 - 86
UNI reqs (UBC)
ENG112 - 74 (B)
PSYC101 - 72 (B)
CPSC - 86 (A)
STAT - 82 (A-)
A&P1 - TBD
A&P2 - TBD
I'm taking A&P in the Summer
experiences
- senior home (occupational therapy) volunteer
- first aid volunteer
- pharmacy assistant volunteer
Here are my questions:
Does BCIT determine your GPA based on your own university's grading scale? Or their own? And also, I'm not too sure about how to calculate GPA, since there are so many different scales online. Can anyone provide an accurate estimate of my GPA?
Does number of hours you've volunteered matter? Or do they consider it by months? Because I don't see a box where you input how many hours in the form.
How strong does my application look so far, and any advice?
Same, right now I'm requesting for approval to take the LIBS courses then I'm just going to take both to enhance my application! Good luck to us
Are you taking the LIBS courses to enhance your September application? I was thinking the same thing but deadline is end of February so I won't be done them. I wonder if BCIT would still consider them.
Not going to start an argument here so this will be my last message regarding this.Lol, yes I was but I never submitted them. I just used my university marks.
I don't think Rose_gold was trying to start an argument. She was just stating that Chem 11 and Math 12 are prerequisites that you are allowed to submit your midterm grades for if you are completing those courses as an adult (which is true - I have been told the same thing myself.) The Chem 11 and Math 12 courses are listed as prerequisites that you are supposed to prove that you have per the entrance requirements. I would think it would make things a lot easier for those reviewing the application to see that you submitted those grades instead of inferring that you must have taken the courses based on your post-secondary courses. But I'm not sure, maybe they would do that - I just know they specifically list those two high school courses as Entrance Requirements with minimum grades of 73% in each.

Haha we should have all compiled our questions together and had just one person email this giant list of questions. Feel like we would've gotten our answers sooner!
