Hey everyone, I know the BCIT January 2019 admission deadline is still a ways to go but I just wanted to know how many people are planning to apply, and also exchange some advice and questions with each other.
First off, I'd like to show you what I am applying with:
Highschool reqs
Precalc 12 - 99
CHEM 11 - 86
UNI reqs (UBC)
ENG112 - 74 (B)
PSYC101 - 72 (B)
CPSC - 86 (A)
STAT - 82 (A-)
A&P1 - TBD
A&P2 - TBD
I'm taking A&P in the Summer
experiences
- senior home (occupational therapy) volunteer
- first aid volunteer
- pharmacy assistant volunteer
Here are my questions:
Does BCIT determine your GPA based on your own university's grading scale? Or their own? And also, I'm not too sure about how to calculate GPA, since there are so many different scales online. Can anyone provide an accurate estimate of my GPA?
Does number of hours you've volunteered matter? Or do they consider it by months? Because I don't see a box where you input how many hours in the form.
How strong does my application look so far, and any advice?
Anyone know how good the chance of getting in from the waitlist is? I've tried to find info regarding waitlist applicants getting accepted in previous intakes but no luck!
I was shortlisted too from previous intake last January and i got into top 50 holdlist but they never specified what position i was in and several months after.. i think it was around February, i got a non-offer for April intake

Ahh, I really hope that won't be the case for many of us! It'd be heartbreaking waiting another 3-4 months just to not receive an offer
I'm wondering if anybody is currently on the waitlist for April?
I'm wondering about this too and whether or not all 64 seats were given out for the April intake. If not, I'd assume that those on the January waitlist will probably receive priority acceptance (if January stays full).
*emailed them, will update once they respond!
Hello! Could someone please explain to me what the LIBS courses are? I haven't heard of them before. Are they required before I start the nursing program? Thanks!
The two courses, LIBS 7001 and 7021, are actually part of the BCIT Nursing Program that you can take in advance. They are not required prior to acceptance, however, if you include these two courses in your application, you can get additional points in the ranking system because it shows the Nursing Department that you are determined to get into their program (since the LIBS courses are only for BCIT - they do not transfer elsewhere). Also, if you end up getting accepted, those are 2 fewer courses you need to take during your program since you have already completed them. I highly recommend taking both ASAP if you are certain BCIT is where you want to go!

Has anyone taken the LIBS courses? If so, any comments on taking the courses both at the same time?
