BCIT January/April 2019 Intake Discussion

Published

Hey everyone, I know the BCIT January 2019 admission deadline is still a ways to go but I just wanted to know how many people are planning to apply, and also exchange some advice and questions with each other.

First off, I'd like to show you what I am applying with:

Highschool reqs

Precalc 12 - 99

CHEM 11 - 86

UNI reqs (UBC)

ENG112 - 74 (B)

PSYC101 - 72 (B)

CPSC - 86 (A)

STAT - 82 (A-)

A&P1 - TBD

A&P2 - TBD

I'm taking A&P in the Summer

experiences

- senior home (occupational therapy) volunteer

- first aid volunteer

- pharmacy assistant volunteer

Here are my questions:

Does BCIT determine your GPA based on your own university's grading scale? Or their own? And also, I'm not too sure about how to calculate GPA, since there are so many different scales online. Can anyone provide an accurate estimate of my GPA?

Does number of hours you've volunteered matter? Or do they consider it by months? Because I don't see a box where you input how many hours in the form.

How strong does my application look so far, and any advice?

Add me as well please :)

What is your Facebook name?

thank you for adding me! I can't wait to meet the whole group.

for those who haven't heard of their statuses yet, dont lose hope and be patient. good luck guys!

Same! Hoping we can all be in the program together :) congratulations to those who've already been accepted and wishing you all the best for the next few years!

Hey everyone and congrats! I received my acceptance email yesterday too (last name starting with W). I've been following this discussion for awhile and was really surprised at the huge amount of people who already have degrees! I've only completed two years of uni so it makes me nervous to see all these people who seem more experienced!

Congrats on your acceptance! I'm sure you'll do well with the others in your cohort. Which intake did you apply for?

The January intake

Hey everyone! I've been watching this forum for awhile but haven't signed up to comment... but I thought I would join in haha. I'm super nervous about my application right now! There are so many qualified students already! I have my Bachelor of Science majoring in BioSci with all my pre-reqs at about an A, I have 3 years retail and hospitality experience with 5 years of various volunteering (teaching ballet, hospital volunteer, and a ton of volunteering throughout uni). I haven't heard anything back so far which is making me really confused? But hopefully we all get in!! I applied for January and this is my first time

I applied with an arts degree.. maybe they prioritize science degrees

Add me to the facebook group please.

Maybe?! I just wish they would tell applicants either way (accepted or not) instead of this long (and super stressful) waiting period haha. Does anyone think the latest we would hear yes or no is like 5pm or so tomorrow??
