BCIT January/April 2019 Intake Discussion

Published

Hey everyone, I know the BCIT January 2019 admission deadline is still a ways to go but I just wanted to know how many people are planning to apply, and also exchange some advice and questions with each other.

First off, I'd like to show you what I am applying with:

Highschool reqs

Precalc 12 - 99

CHEM 11 - 86

UNI reqs (UBC)

ENG112 - 74 (B)

PSYC101 - 72 (B)

CPSC - 86 (A)

STAT - 82 (A-)

A&P1 - TBD

A&P2 - TBD

I'm taking A&P in the Summer

experiences

- senior home (occupational therapy) volunteer

- first aid volunteer

- pharmacy assistant volunteer

Here are my questions:

Does BCIT determine your GPA based on your own university's grading scale? Or their own? And also, I'm not too sure about how to calculate GPA, since there are so many different scales online. Can anyone provide an accurate estimate of my GPA?

Does number of hours you've volunteered matter? Or do they consider it by months? Because I don't see a box where you input how many hours in the form.

How strong does my application look so far, and any advice?

I feel ya, I'm second guessing everything I wrote!! Good luck guys!!

Ahh I just finished the quiz! That felt like the most intense 2 hours of my life :')

I submitted two minutes late but made my last edit two seconds before my time was up... that should be fine right?

Wishing everyone the best rn!

Waiting game for all of us right now 😊 Wish you all luck!

I know that we'll get notified of our acceptance in a week or so, but I'm still nervously checking my email on the daily!

Good luck to all of us!!

Does anyone know when we will be notified?

Last Jan people were notified of their acceptance as early as october 26 I believe. And I think they have to notify everyone by October 31?

I feel like they send the acceptances and rejections first. Also, if you are waitlisted or "pass" the quiz and being considered for april intake, does your status change?? Or are non offers only given if you fail the quiz and they close your application

According to the information on the forum from the Jan. 2018 intake, it looked like their quiz end date was Oct. 19, those who were accepted were notified in the early afternoon on Oct. 26, and the rest (hold list and non-offer) were notified on Oct. 30. So we could receive an email an acceptance email by the end of this week!

I'm so nervous! I keep rereading the 2018 intake forum's comments when they received the news and it's doing me no good hahaha! Good luck to everybody and I hope we all get in!

Wait, what is a hold list?

Like a waitlist, but I think it also extends to the April 2019 intake. All the people on last year's forums were put on the hold list if they passed the quiz but weren't offered a spot, and the people who failed the quiz were given non-offers.

Is there anyone who applied for Langara's Jan 2019 intake and plan to drop if they get into BCITs?
