BCIT January/April 2019 Intake Discussion

Published

Hey everyone, I know the BCIT January 2019 admission deadline is still a ways to go but I just wanted to know how many people are planning to apply, and also exchange some advice and questions with each other.

First off, I'd like to show you what I am applying with:

Highschool reqs

Precalc 12 - 99

CHEM 11 - 86

UNI reqs (UBC)

ENG112 - 74 (B)

PSYC101 - 72 (B)

CPSC - 86 (A)

STAT - 82 (A-)

A&P1 - TBD

A&P2 - TBD

I'm taking A&P in the Summer

experiences

- senior home (occupational therapy) volunteer

- first aid volunteer

- pharmacy assistant volunteer

Here are my questions:

Does BCIT determine your GPA based on your own university's grading scale? Or their own? And also, I'm not too sure about how to calculate GPA, since there are so many different scales online. Can anyone provide an accurate estimate of my GPA?

Does number of hours you've volunteered matter? Or do they consider it by months? Because I don't see a box where you input how many hours in the form.

How strong does my application look so far, and any advice?

Hi y'all,

I just finished the questionnaire right now. It wasn't that bad but it definitely was a bit nerve-wracking with the clock ticking above the quiz :/ Goodluck!

Where did you hear about "self regulation" as a topic on the quiz? I haven't received this information.

Yea the information that they gave us did not mention self-regulation at all..

Yay! I'm going to do mine today. Were the questions very straightforward?

Yes, the questions were very straightforward. I think it all depends on how well we incorporate our personal and professional skills to each question.

Were the questions vague or pretty specific?

specific! you need examples

Looks like there's no word count in the quiz

Looks like there's no word count in the quiz

I noticed that too! but why do I feel like I've read somewhere official that it was to be no longer than 250 words?

Oh my goodness, so there is a 250 word limit. The instructions were on the Homepage on d2l. I wonder how many marks would be deducted for writing 7 words above the limit, since one of them was.. lol

I feel like 7 words wouldn't be a big deal as opposed to 50, ya know? Hoping!

That's true, it's just me being paranoid! I hope we get the results soon. Good luck everyone :)
