Hey everyone, I know the BCIT January 2019 admission deadline is still a ways to go but I just wanted to know how many people are planning to apply, and also exchange some advice and questions with each other.
First off, I'd like to show you what I am applying with:
Highschool reqs
Precalc 12 - 99
CHEM 11 - 86
UNI reqs (UBC)
ENG112 - 74 (B)
PSYC101 - 72 (B)
CPSC - 86 (A)
STAT - 82 (A-)
A&P1 - TBD
A&P2 - TBD
I'm taking A&P in the Summer
experiences
- senior home (occupational therapy) volunteer
- first aid volunteer
- pharmacy assistant volunteer
Here are my questions:
Does BCIT determine your GPA based on your own university's grading scale? Or their own? And also, I'm not too sure about how to calculate GPA, since there are so many different scales online. Can anyone provide an accurate estimate of my GPA?
Does number of hours you've volunteered matter? Or do they consider it by months? Because I don't see a box where you input how many hours in the form.
How strong does my application look so far, and any advice?
For those who've done the questionnaire in previous intakes, after the department makes a decision of offer or non-offer, do they post your quiz "mark" on D2L? Or provide any feedback on how you obtained that mark - either on the learning hub or via email if asked?
From what I've read in previous posts they don't tell you if you failed or passed but people have emailed to ask and BCIT has told them
Hey @amanjotdhami :) Yes I personally emailed the Admissions department right after my application was declined. They told me that I had a good application and the only recommendation they could give me was to increase my post-secondary education and so I did. Right now, I have over 60 credits because they mentioned also that a successful applicant tend to have 60 or more credits. And if you want to know what score you got on the questionnaire, they don't put it on D2L instead you could email and ask. That's the only way to find out. I think i scored 71% out of the class average 83%.
LOL I was literally sitting down and stopped talking for a good 10mins and thinking wtf just happened
HAHA that's so funny to imagine- just so shocked that you got a recall email to the point where you stopped everything you were doing
But same, I was like "wait... what lmao..." definitely was not ready to be rejected right after I got short listed but luckily that ain't the case!!

Yeah, well good luck to you and everyone tomorrow or whenever you decide to do the quiz!
