BCIT January 2014 Applicants

World Canada CA Programs

Hi guys,

I thought that now would be an appropriate time to start a new topic for the prospective BCIT nursing students for Jan 2014 (similar threads for previous intakes are also a great source of information).

Hopefully we can share tips, answer questions to the best of our ability, and communicate with each other about when status changes are released and whatnot. Now we can all play the waiting game together, haha! ;)

What are everyone's status' on their LIBS 7001/7002 courses? I wonder if there have been people in the past who have been accepted without having completed these beforehand...

I have LIBS 7001 completed but not 7002 because there wasn't any room with my other school schedule. At first I was hesitant because I'm not a regular BCIT student, so taking any LIBS course was a huge financial investment (and there's also no guaranteed acceptance).

What about everyone else, did you take LIBS 7001 or 7002?

^I completed both courses earlier this year. Despite it being a mandatory course, I quite enjoyed the Applied Ethics course haha

How did everyone find the questionnaire? I just finished! Quite the load of my shoulders. I guess all there is to do now is wait.

Good luck everybody!!

I was shortlisted for this year and I haven't completed either course yet because I was taking online courses from TRU already over the summer. The admissions office told me that that was alright since you can take them during your studies. I'm taking the questionnaire tonight... super nervous!!

Nice! Would you recommend taking LIBS 7002 online or in-person? I've heard that it's a bit tougher if done online.

And I JUST finished my questionnaire too, phew! The level of difficulty was appropriate, I think. It sure feels good to relax now. :cat:

Don't be nervous! You're asked to draw from personal experiences; I tried to include everything from work, volunteer and school. The questions are quite open ended and are meant to spark a wide range of responses :)

I took 7002 online :) I have to say, the work load was quite manageable (I was also taking 7001 at the same time - also online). I suppose it depends on who your prof is but but me there were weekly writing assignments, about a chapter or so to read each week and sometimes a video to watch. Like I said earlier, the class is very interesting and thought provoking. The only thing is that we were put into groups at the very beginning and the weekly assignments consisted of each person contributing a piece of work which would be compiled together to form a mini-essay. So the mark you receive is largely dependent on how competent the people in your group are.

Though I almost always speak in favour of in-person lecture style classes, if you have any previous experience with online classes or are good with time management and learning on your own, I would recommend taking it online! It's always nice to be able to do your homework in your pajamas :)

I just found out i got short listed! usually i'd get an email redirected to my regular email account, this one didnt. So i have just a few days to sort of prepare for this questionnaire. I'm taking LIBS 7001 and 7002 both online this semester and it's a lot of reading for the course. I'm really nervous about this questionnaire. Any advice? This is the first school i've applied for and have never done any sort of questionaire like this before.

Thanks!

I'm really nervous about the questionnaire too! Are they situational-type of questions?

They're not *really* situational questions--they're way more open-ended so there is room for flexibility. Good luck!

Hi I am in level 1 .. congrats on being shortlisted! We didnt have a time limit on the questionnaire so open it if you want!

oops some of you already opened it. Anyways let me know if you have any questions about the program :)
