Hello future nurses,
I am so excited to be starting nursing at BCIT in August!
For future applicants: To have a strong application make sure you have work experience, volunteer experience (preferably healthcare), as well as liberal arts courses - my Psych 241 at SFU transferred over as a libs course and I will find out if any other courses of mine transfer over once I send them an updated transcript.
I am going to be going in with a completed BSc in Kinesiology and Psychology, but a full degree is not necessary, just at least 60 credits to be competitive!
Anyone else defer to August?
PublicHealthHopeful,
The BSN program is a 3-year (year round) degree program. For students starting in August 2013 the terms are scheduled as follows (dates include exam week):
Level 1 - Aug 19 to Dec 13, 2013
Level 2 - Jan 6 to May 9, 2014
Spring Term - May 12 to Aug 1, 2014
Level 3 - Aug 18 to Dec 12, 2014
Level 4 - Jan 5 to July 31, 2015
Level 5 - Aug to Dec, 2015
Level 6 - Jan to May, 2016
When we were shortlisted a document was attached to the email we received
General-Information.pdf (something like that)
Congrats on your admission to the program.
Cheers!
Hey everyone, I've received acceptance for August 2013 as well!
I was thinking of deferring to January but decided not to as I saw that they've changed to requirements for the January intake - A&P has to be completed within 3 years and I took mine about 4-5 years ago. So I'm starting for sure in August just to be safe! Now I just really need to brush up on A&P until classes start because I feel like I've forgotten almost everything which is making me super nervous!
Anyway, I was also looking at the course schedule and we have microbiology in Level 2. I've already taken it when I was in university over in California... anybody have past experiences/know of anyone that was able to transfer their microbiology course to BCIT?
Thanks and congrats to everyone that's made it this far :)

Thanks!
Just noticed there is a 3 year recency and I took KIN105 more than 3 years ago...
Guess I'll have to take both 1593&1693. Still cheaper and quicker than re-taking the equivalent courses at SFU.
Thanks again for the tip, ace12345! :)
