BCIT August 2013 Applicants

World Canada CA Programs

Hello future nurses,

I am so excited to be starting nursing at BCIT in August!

For future applicants: To have a strong application make sure you have work experience, volunteer experience (preferably healthcare), as well as liberal arts courses - my Psych 241 at SFU transferred over as a libs course and I will find out if any other courses of mine transfer over once I send them an updated transcript.

I am going to be going in with a completed BSc in Kinesiology and Psychology, but a full degree is not necessary, just at least 60 credits to be competitive!

Anyone else defer to August?

Well. Looks like I was wait listed.

Not sure how this works but better than a straight up non-offer? :)

Still hopeful~ xD

How do we know if we have a top position on the waitlist? Do they notify us? Also, does anyone know how many people they put on the waitlist? Thanks!

I have been waitlisted AGAIN. But I haven't received an email saying if I am on top of the holdist or what. I will call them later in the evening if I don't hear anything..

I was waitlisted for January 2013 intake and there was roughly 60+ people on it. I believe people who are at the top of the waitlist are notified. At this point, they have the opportunity to defer and guarantee themselves a spot for January 2014 or wait to see if a seat opens for August 2013. Good luck to you all! hope to see you on campus soon!

I thought that the letter they sent us said that this intakes waitlist would not transfer over into the january intake? Has anyone gotten notice of being top waitlisted? Or did they even send non accept letters out or did they just waitlist the rest of us who were shortlisted?

It can only be transfered if u were on top of the holdlist. I was not and had to re-compete for August.

Thanks! I havent received an email or anything from the department. How long was it before you were notified of being on the top wait list or not?

I'm not sure about top of the holdlist. But I believe I received waitlist info the day after acceptance letters were sent. Double check the January 2013 thread.

Got a reply back for my email asking them about my waitlist process and so forth

They can only tell you if you are at the top 10 of the list or not (which I'm not, unfortunately).

Due to the changes in the new admission requirements, I won't be able to apply to the next intake just yet until I get my second A&P course done.

To look on the bright side, this way I'll be able to finish my undergrad program before heading into nursing!

U can take the a&p online through tru n have it done by August 31.

Really?

I have kin105 from sfu which transfers for the first course. Is there no prerequisite for the 2nd A&P course at TRU?

Is it BIOL 1593/1693?

Yes it is :) not sure about the transfer u would have to ask them or check transfer guide
