I already called my many cousins. My youngest female cousin was the first baby whose diaper I changed. I love her dearly. She and her husband voted for Trump. She has been a loving mother and grandmother to her daughter and grandson, who are celebrating Joe Biden being President Elect. Next I plan to call my friends who were certain Trump would win another four years. I truly believe now is a time for kindness. Our family and friendships will endure.
My son called me this morning to give me the news that Joe Biden had won. He was relieved, and to be honest so was I. I’m a Republican but voted for Biden because we need an adult in the WH. What turned me against Trump was his mishandling of the pandemic and his constant lying. I’m not a fan of his Tweets either. Still , I hesitated before marking my ballot because abortion has always been a deal-breaker for me, and Trump is ostentatiously pro-life (because it’s politically expedient for him to be so). So I prayed for guidance, held my nose, and leapt into Biden’s camp. I hope I don’t regret it.

Character matters.

As a Republican there might be policy decisions made in the next four years that you don’t fully agree with, but having read your posts and semi-gotten to know you, I think you would have felt much more regret had Trump won a second term.
I am so relieved for all of you that Biden appears to be your next President. I honestly don’t think that the U.S. could have made it intact through another four years of the current madness.
This is the type of people and sentiments that surround the current President:
What kind of person says things like this when speaking about two other human beings: ”I’d actually like to go back to the old times of Tudor England. I’d put their heads on pikes, right, I’d put them at the two corners of the White House as a warning to federal bureaucrats, you either get with the program or you’re gone”. This said about the Director of the FBI and Dr Fauci, both of whom we know Trump has expressed unhappiness about.
”Get with the program” or have your head stuck on a pike as a deterrent to those who might dare to entertain the thought of not agreeing with and endorsing everything that the President says.
I think your country by a slim margin just managed to escape what I believe was a real existential threat.
Best wishes to all of you ?

I'm sure your gay son is proud of you for not being a single issue voter and voting for someone and a party that clearly is against him. It can't be easy voting Republican with a gay son, and it can't be easy voting for someone pro-abortion when you're a Catholic.
No concession yet from Mr. Trump. Not surprising. Not surprising either is the silence from Republicans who should be urging him to concede with honor. Not surprising is the number of people that believe the election was fraudulent, that somehow the Democrats were able to control elections in so many states to help Biden to win.
Trump said a few months ago the election would be fraudulent. If so, why didn't he stop it so he could win? Why on his watch would he allow himself to lose?
Congrats to President Elect Biden and the historic win for Ms. Harris.
I work night shift and was very happy that I happened to still be awake at 1115 am when I go the news alert ding on my phone saying that the AP finally called the race and Biden won. I am so relieved! ? I have been watching the news almost every chance I could get since Tue night.. so glad that stress is starting to fade NOW.. but until the rest of these delusional law suits get thrown out and/or trump concedes; partial stress will remain.
I didn't realize what a burden this election was until I heard Biden won and I could literally feel tension leave my body.
However, as this settles in I have to brace myself for the fact that Trump got 70 million votes and his followers are still behind him. And the people that voted for him aren't going anywhere even when he leaves.
On our local Mayor's facebook page someone said this " The Insurrection Act will prove the criminal nature of this fake electoral process. It's prison time for every Democrat operative who participated in this election fraud."
My thought was "this is what a brainwashed person sounds like" and I got nauseous. I'm not looking forward to the next few weeks and months. I probably am going to tense up until the inauguration.

Well looks like President Trump has managed only one term
Joe Biden has won the race to become the next US president, defeating Donald Trump following a cliff-hanger vote count after Tuesday's election.
The BBC projects that Mr Biden has won the key battleground of Pennsylvania, propelling him over the 270 electoral college vote threshold required to clinch the White House.

Personally I am glad that things can try and move forward
