This is a forum for students planning to apply to BRCC in Spring 18' for acceptance into the Fall 18' or Spring 19' semester. I'm just looking to get to know fellow prospects and/or future classmates. Anyone that wants to discuss comments/concerns about BRCC's Nursing Program.
I took my HESI yesterday and I thought I was completely prepared but I guess not. I used the book out of the bookstore and the pocket prep app. I failed the grammar with a 72 and the biology with a 64. I can tell you the grammar and biology was nothing like it was in the book or on the app. The math I got a 86 and the vocabulary I got a 97. The math was mainly ratios and proportions. I'm not sure what I will do now. I'm looking at all my options. I have a informational session to attend at LSU nursing school in April. Good Luck to everyone!

Sorry to hear that I actually found the pocket prep grammar harder than the actual test.
I hope you get into LSU nursing!

Are you still here? Since you're in the nursing program I have a question regarding the length of the program.
I know the ASN itself is 72 credits including the prereqs. When they say it's a 5 semester program, is that including the prereqs as a full time student or is the 5 semesters just in reference to the nursing related credits?
The reason why I ask is when I looked at the nursing handbook I noticed it said:
-The student may take one NURS course at a time.
If that's the case, then from the ASN degree requirement that I have there are 7 nursing courses. So I guess I'm confused?
Hey Guys I have a few questions. I took some prereqs at BRCC years ago mostly my English, Psych, and Humanities. I am currently deployed and using the opportunity to take some classes. I took AP1 in 2010 and got a B and AP2 at the Lake and got C+. I know that some schools require you to retake them over after 5 years but I decided to retake to make better grades. I decided to completely start over on everything. Since I am weak in algebra but have really no problem calculating dosages (work as a MA on the civilian side) and haven't taken a real math class in years I am starting from the bottom and currently taken a Intro to algebra class and will take an Intermediate Algebra this summer to be able to take College Algebra in the Fall. I am also currently taking Human Biology and undecided if I will take Intro to AP before retaking AP1 in the Spring 19 after I am back home.
My real questions are I took my early prereqs years ago and was young and had no idea with I truly wanted to do at the time so I did the minimum to pass. Has anyone else completely started over and got accepted? I am afraid they will take in account my old classes when evaluating me even if I make all As and Bs this time around. I was in an LPN program before deployment and progressing well but looking back at the decision the cost is not worth making with I was making an a MA. Will it look really bad that I am taking all my pre-reqs minus Algebra over even if its been 8-10 years ago for some? I'm really just looking for advice on the best way to approach possibly applying in 2019. Thanks in advance.

If classes are from 8-10 years ago you might qualify for academic amnesty. That's something you would have to email advisors/admission about.
Hey yall!!! So sorry, just getting back to this and seeing the concerns!!! It's been so busy... okay, Yes I am still here :) So, the 5 semesters, includes prereqs. The ACTUAL nursing portion, is 4 semesters ( 2 spring, 2 fall).
The way they do the courses, you will take "one at a time" so to say, even though you take two a semester. Your class gets broken up into even MORE groups (aside from the two groups they make out of those accepted). I hope I answered any questions! Yall please feel free to email my school email if yall have any questions & I don't seem to be active on here.
