Baton Rouge Community College Spring 18
Congrats to everyone who go in. I have a few questions if you guys don't mind. What is your gpa? How many classes did you take at BRCC? Hesi score? I have taking classes at BRCC before but all are over 5 years old. I am currently deployed and taking some classes that are accrediated. Come Spring the only class that I will need to take is my AP over since I took it in 2010 and its considered outdated. I will hopefully be taking it at BRCC if I can register before it fills up.

LPN vs MA
It really depends on what you want to get out of the job and where you work. I was a certified MA and started LPN school but had to quit due to a deployment overseas. I had a job in a large MD office and had a prn job in the ER as a tech. Also what your state allows MA's to do. I made the same as a LPN in the state while working as a MA. Me and the LPNs in our office did the same thing. The only difference was they were allowed to give patients medical advice.

Baton Rouge Community College Spring 18
Hey Guys I have a few questions. I took some prereqs at BRCC years ago mostly my English, Psych, and Humanities. I am currently deployed and using the opportunity to take some classes. I took AP1 in 2010 and got a B and AP2 at the Lake and got C+. I know that some schools require you to retake them over after 5 years but I decided to retake to make better grades. I decided to completely start over on everything. Since I am weak in algebra but have really no problem calculating dosages (work as a MA on the civilian side) and haven't taken a real math class in years I am starting from the bottom and currently taken a Intro to algebra class and will take an Intermediate Algebra this summer to be able to take College Algebra in the Fall. I am also currently taking Human Biology and undecided if I will take Intro to AP before retaking AP1 in the Spring 19 after I am back home. My real questions are I took my early prereqs years ago and was young and had no idea with I truly wanted to do at the time so I did the minimum to pass. Has anyone else completely started over and got accepted? I am afraid they will take in account my old classes when evaluating me even if I make all As and Bs this time around. I was in an LPN program before deployment and progressing well but looking back at the decision the cost is not worth making with I was making an a MA. Will it look really bad that I am taking all my pre-reqs minus Algebra over even if its been 8-10 years ago for some? I'm really just looking for advice on the best way to approach possibly applying in 2019. Thanks in advance.

Please give me advice before I make a rash decision?
Is it too late to drop without a W? Having a W still counts as an attempt at some programs. If you cant just try as hard as you can on your upcoming exams and not solely focus on nursing school. I am currently having the same issue. I took AP1 and got a B in lecture and C in the lab and a C in both classes for AP2. I decided that I needed to start at the beginning and is now taking human biology before I start back with retaking AP.

Olol College BSN
I am currently attended OLOL and I will be applying for next Fall. I am interested in knowing if they wait until after the spring semester to send out acceptance letters or not. I will be taking the Nurs 1730 in the spring and I know that it is a prereq before you can start nursing school but you can take it the semester while applying. I have a friend who recently graduated from the asn program but have no idea how the bsn programs entry works. Thanks in advance.

BRCC's Nursing Program
At the information sessions we were told that they put the 5 required grades and test scores into a spread sheet and it rank the students and they take the top 60 off the list. They give an extra point for completed all the courses there. You have to make a 75% on all parts of the HESI. I opted not to apply this semester A&P is a killer and a nurse I work with who just graduated from the program advised me to take A&P 2 before applying because its too much.

Anatomy & Physiology Online?
I took A&P 1 lecture/lab I dropped the lab because I got a little behind at Mayville state University online and I loved it. It alittle expensive $795 for the lecture but I did a payment plan. The teacher Mr and Mrs Lankow(?) were great all study guides and quiz were up in a timely matter and emails were also asked quickly. I also brought Mosby's anatomy and physiology flash cards from barnes and nobles for about $30 and it was the exact same material. Good Luck.

Anyone know anything about Our Lady of the Lake 10 month RN program
I currently work for the Lake hospital and the Metairie program falls under Our Lady of Holy Cross which is still a ASN program. The Baton Rouge location will not start admitting BSN students until fall 2012 no students will be admitted in the upcoming spring.

Frustrated about applying to Delgado
I will be taking classes at Delgado this semester because I am interested in applying to their nursing school. I am taking A&P 1 lab I took the lecture already, Math 118, and I thought about taking Micro or Psychology depends on whats available Friday. I looked at their application information and the deadline for next Fall when I plan to apply is December 9 and for Spring 2013 is May 12, 2012 which sounds alittle crazy based on deadlines of other programs. I know the Hesi A2 test has to be taken prior to submitting the application but do anyone know if A&P 2, Math Survery and the humanities has to be taken before applying. If so this is frustrating and putting me way behind. Thanks.

BRCC's Nursing Program
I am currently at BRCC and this is off the website " BRCC has attained candidacy status from the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC).We are in the process of completing the requirements for accreditation. BRCC holds initial approval from the Louisiana State Board of Nursing." I know that they only accept 40 students once a year and there are about 300 students on campus trying to apply.

Southern University Baton Rouge
I am currently at BRCC and hoping to transfer to SU in the fall. SU just received the state's school of the year for nursing. Brcc has about 300 students wanting to apply for nursing but they only take 40 for the entire year. If you decide to go to BRCC and take pre-reqs please check them first because some including the Chemistry required for SU do not transfer as the class need for nursing school.

Somebody please help I am losing confidence
I currently attend BRCC and I hope to either be able to apply to Southern, Nicholls, ULL, or BR General maybe even Charity by next spring. The problems is they all have different requirements and timetables. I really wanted my BSN the first time around. I took my psychology, sociology, and english classes already. I am already burnt out because I am constantly having to change my classes to focus on their requirements. The major problem I have is getting into a A&P class. At BRCC the requirement to take the class is BIO101 &101L, 102 & 102L (I have both lecture already and taking both labs this semester), at Southern for instants its CHem and the lab. I found a a&p class online thats accrediated do anyone know if any of these schools would accept that? Do anyone have information on this schools? I heard that Southern do not use their gpa 2.60 they have a lottery system to admit students is that true? Also how many times a year do these schools admit? Sorry this is so long. Thanks in advance
