Graduated Dec 14. Louisiana board processed app on 16th, received ATT on 19th. Been a RN since Jan 11th :') The wait sucks and I feel for all of y'all who still don't have your ATT yet. I can't imagine having to wait that long just to get an authorization to test.

Hello, I recently had an interview for SICU that gets transplants (livers, hearts, lungs), open hearts, LVAD, IABP, ENT, and overflow from other ICUs except stroke. I am beyond elated at receiving a job offer at this unit due to the wide variety of cases coming through, and the amount of content I will be learning. I just purchased a copy of Fast Facts for Critical Care (blue binder), and also own a pdf copy of Quick Reference to Critical Care. I understand they won't expect me know everything at once, but are some things I should drill into my brain before I start to make my life easier? I'm also coming in with a year and half experience as a SICU tech from another hospital, and I don't want to disappoint them with my "lack of expected/perceived knowledge." I do plan to go over pharmacology for common ICU meds (pressors, sedatives, paralytics). Will def be going over ventilator & ventilation details, and I'm told ABGs are pretty common as well.

This is correct. If you have the option of getting into a BSN program, it may be a better route for you.

Do you think that because you're a male and less likely to go into OB that you shouldn't be required to learn OB/Maternal? Are you saying that doctors who plan to specialize in peds shouldn't have to learn adult physiology? Stop being a pompous ass and take the opportunity to learn the material relevant to your PROFESSION even if you don't see OB being your CAREER. Nursing is a profession that has set standards of knowledge that all people going into the profession need to learn regardless of their ******* gender or career aspirations. You're the kind of person who probably thinks that they know better than everyone else. That kind of ego and thinking can lead to serious mistakes. You're still a student. Do your damn part to learn the bare minimum to get into the profession, and get off your high horse. Stop being rude to these people who have already finished the training and have worked the damn job.

A lot of people are getting hung up on the terminology here. A lot of people my age, 20s, have heard it used in this context. ALL of my med school friends refer to this type of questioning as pimping. It's not THAT uncommon or bizarre.

I think you should've received some kind of communication. I think you should have received either an acceptance, rejection or waitlist letter. If you have not received any kind of communication, I would call the school immediately.

Hi friend, I failed out of college in 2014 with a GPA Of 1.2 I got accepted into my nursing program this fall with a preq gpa of 3.6 and overall gpa of 2.125 If you're very worried, talk to the school about academic amnesty/forgiveness. I've seen it be an option for some people who've been out of school for a while.

I got into my community college RN program with a 3.6 prerequisite GPA no waitlisting. My overall GPA was a 2.135. I was out of school for 3 years and just went back Fall of 2017 to start taking my prerequisites.

2.5 GPA will get your application thrown in the trash for med school. In my community college, the minimum prerequisite GPA to apply into the nursing school is 2.8, realistically the average GPA they end up pulling is closer to 3.5 When applying to a nursing program, contact the advisor to see how they calculate their application GPA (overall versus prerequisite classes only, best grade for retakes or averaged grade on retakes) and determine your path from there. Because every program is different, it's impossible to give you a definite answer.

Finish prerequisites for nursing program (classes and possible standardized entrance exam) 3. Apply into university/college nursing program 4. Begin taking nursing programs If you already have a bachelors you may see 2 other alternate ways. Apply into an accelerated bachelors in nursing program OR go into a community college associate degree in nursing program then finish a RN To BSN bridge program. Are there specific schools around you that you're interested in?

Once you turn in your confirmation of acceptance, you have 24 hours to turn in the LSBN application, money order for 90.75, authorization for background check, and 2 sets of finger prints. We have a nursing boot camp and a student orientation on August 8 & 17, from 9AM to 4PM. Mandatory attendance.
