This is a forum for students planning to apply to BRCC in Spring 18' for acceptance into the Fall 18' or Spring 19' semester. I'm just looking to get to know fellow prospects and/or future classmates. Anyone that wants to discuss comments/concerns about BRCC's Nursing Program.

Hey, y'all. I'm taking the HESI march 29th and I'm so nervous. Exactly what sections are on the HESI, do you guys know? I bought a practice book from Amazon and it has physics in it and I'm about to have a panic attack!

I just finished my exam today.

Subsections are:

biology

math

reading comprehension

vocabulary

grammar

I just used the book they had in the bookstore, ISBN 0323353789 along with an app called Pocket Prep. I started studying a week in advance, you'll be fine.

I'm not sure what everyone else's experience was, but once I took the exam I felt like throwing up because I thought I did poorly, but my scores came out great. The testing experience really messes with you, you have 4 hours to take it.

Congrats @randomtesla! What were your scores or overall. Did you see similar questions that were in the book and pocket prep app?

I made a 94.8 I'm sure they'll just count it as a 94.

There were similar questions in the math and english related sections.

Grammar was much easier than the book or app. Biology I felt was much harder than either resource, there were even some anatomy questions in the biology section. I felt like reading comprehension was the most frustrating one over all, but I also took it last and I may have just been exhausted at that point. :(

Oh ok @randomtesla, probably should've taken that one first

Maybe? I did math first, and that one ended up taking me the longest. I thought it would take me the least amount of time. You live and learn I guess.

How many questions are on the hesi test? Or for each section?

Math 55

Biology 30

Reading Comprehension 55

Grammar 55

Vocab 30

I think vocab was 30. I don't remember it being very long, but I might be wrong and it may be 55.

Does anyone happen to have a copy of the nursing application assessment form?

I vaguely remember there being a pdf where you could see how many points your application would get based on your scores and gpa to see where you stand, but I can't seem to find it anymore. Or am I thinking of another school?
