Basic ECG Course

I have just signed up for the ECG training at pgh.. I don't wknow here it would be held and when.. I am quite excited.. I have experienced different arrhythmias in my work but haven't had any formal trainings.. most common is sinus tachy and brady.. and of course V-tach, V-fib and A-fib.. and others which I cannot identify.. hehe.. that's why I am excited..

They say reading ECGs is a skill that you hone by practice accdg to my ECG workshop instructor. It's hard to identify and I had headaches when I had my workshop. Now, I'm trying to practice as much as I can with an ECG workbook and a caliper. Good luck and God bless.

yeah.. I have the same opinion.. I am quite lucky because I can apply my future learnings with my patient.. actually most of my knowledge at present is from experience.. I ask doctors about the ECG tracings that the my patiensts have..

I'd have to agree with nars1019. I took the Basic ECG Course at the H.E.A.R.T. Foundation and it was quite difficult to understand the concepts because the doctors who lectured basically seemed to expect us to instantly comprehend such difficult concepts. I had to study a lot on my own before taking my ACLS course. I decided to inquire at CCNAPI and registered there. I'm very happy that I enrolled there instead. This doesn't mean that the ACLS course in CCNAPI is easier, though; we'd really have to memorize a lot of things, but it's all worth it in the end. I even wish that I took my ECG Course at CCNAPI instead.

]There is a better alternative to the HEART Foundation (Philippine Heart Center)'s Basic ECG Training and that is the 2-day Basic ECG Interpretation training by the Critical Nurses Association of the Philippines (CCNAPI). I attended their June 8-9 ECG training and had a great time learning about ECGs.

The training was conducted by who is the president of CCNAPI and a nursing leader from the Philippine Heart Center, St Luke's and the chairman of the Continuing Education Program of the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA). She was really patient with us teaching our class to understand ECG.

A friend who took the ECG training at Heart Center (the one with a P3,000 fee) told me that their training was mostly lectured by physicians who just babbled and read from their laptops and Powerpoint presentations. Unlike with CCNAPI, We was taught us from a Nursing Perspective and we had return demonstration on lead placements using manual and automatic ECG machines. My preceptor was former Philippine Heart Center administrator and former Board of Nursing (BON) chairman. My friend said that the one conducted with Heart Center doesn't have return demonstrations. They just show you the diagrams. Augh!

The 2-day basic ECG training by CCNAPI only costs P1,500 (for CCNAPI members) and P1,700 (for non-CCNAPI members) and includes snacks, lunch and certificate. Their next ECG training schedule will be on July 6-7; August 3-4; September 14-15; October 5-6; and November 9-10.

Hi just wondering, I went to the official website of Philippine Heart Center and saw that one of the requirement for the Critical Care Course is a one year clinical experience.. is it necessary of is it optional? please help thank you :hug:

ecg observship training for 3 weeks held every month in pgh central ecg block you'll be assigned in opd on the first week and then e.r, bed side on the second week for 1.8k that's way better and cheaper than heart center, and you'll be doing manual to automatic ecg tracing with interpretation there's also a lecturer from up pgh she's a cardiac nurse professor for 20 years easier to understand compared to doctors. you'll definitely cram in a 3 day ecg course in my opinion. in pgh its more hands on than theories. :up:

hi nurse_pukyaw, have you participated in this ecg training? are we required to wear white uniform? i was able to get a slot a while ago, :yeah: .. i am definitely looking forward in training there in pgh.. i do hope to learn a lot..
