Just thought I'd start a thread for all of us applying! I'm planning on completing my application pretty soon. Taking the CCRN this week, and then I'll be ready to go! How are you all faring?
Also, does anyone know anything about the Tampa campus? I'm going to try and go for that one.
Barry posted outcomes for the graduating class of 2016. There was a 24 percent attrition rate for the class. I'm coming from out of state, so I don't really know anybody who has graduated from the program. I know most of you guys are from FL, so some of you may know people who matriculated or are currently matriculating at Barry.
Any specific reason for this attrition rate? Is it chemistry? Is it the demands of juggling clinical with the didactic portion? Failure is not an option for me, and I just want to do my best to prepare myself in order to avoid being a statistic.
Yikes! 24%?! I'm local to Orlando, and will be in the Orlando cohort for the upcoming class. I have just been hearing how Orlando is the hardest site (which scares me a bit). They say the clinical site is tough and the reason it's so hard is because the clinical schedule leaves you with little time to study. OR cases tend to go over most of the time. The class of 2018 apparently already lost 5 students. So I guess the balance of clinical and didactics in semesters 2&3 is the hardest part of the program. It will be significant to stay on top of your studying any chance you get, probably reading the chapters before lectures and studying hard like you have an exam coming up after every lecture will help you out. I know that's what I will try to do.
Congrats to all those who recently were accepted! Looking forward to meeting you all. Hang in there to those who are still waiting to hear back, fingers crossed!

I applied back in March and was told everything looks good, then in April I updated my app with my CCRN. I was told they would add to my packet. I called the first of May to make sure everything was good and received a surprise. I was told they didn't have an application from me????? I asked what about the previous conversations saying things were all good and they couldn't explain any of it. They said they had all my transcripts, GED, CCRN, and references but no application.....what the hell! So I resubmitted and have been waiting! I called in June and was told that my file was complete and would be going to the committee soon, yet here I still wait. Meanwhile, I was accepted into VCU's DNAP starting in January of 2017!!!!! So I guess all things happen for a reason. I am very disappointed in how the process went with Barry, as they were my first choice, but I do have an excellent program to attend now, so its all good. Good luck to those applying and keep on top of the admissions staff or you will end up lost in the sauce like i was!!!!
