Barry CRNA Starting 2017

Published

Just thought I'd start a thread for all of us applying! I'm planning on completing my application pretty soon. Taking the CCRN this week, and then I'll be ready to go! :o How are you all faring?

Also, does anyone know anything about the Tampa campus? I'm going to try and go for that one.

Just received an email back. I sent one asking if they are full why are they still reviewing applications etc. I was told they anticipate there may be some spots left after this interview so they are still reviewing applications so they are prepared and ready if they have the next interview. Guess we will know next week. Good luck to everyone tomorrow!!

How were the interviews yesterday?

I interviewed yesterday, I thought it was fine. Test wasn't bad either. No clinical questions, just get to know you type q's...that being said, didn't anyone else feel like that put a VERY heavy emphasis on how difficult the program was? I mean, we all know CRNA school is tough, but I felt like they belabored that point so much, it seemed like they were trying to discourage us. I've been to other crna open houses etc, and the focused seemed more on the support that they provide and why you should choose that program over others. From the group meeting, to the personal interview, I just didn't get that same vibe from Barry. Thoughts??

I got a little scared myself. Especially the student crna that spoke to us made me feel uneasy. He was so serious and kept saying over and over how hard it is.

The interview was quick and easy. It almost seems like not enough time to sell yourself, but overall I got good vibes from the faculty. They were all nice, and they do their best to make you comfortable, which I liked. Even during the interview they talked about how difficult the next 28 months of my life will be if I'm accepted though. They also said it will be worth it, and they all had to do it, and it's just part of the process of entering a fulfilling career.

...but yeah...the student put the fear in everybody, haha. I think that they specifically chose the student since they were let back in the program after getting 3 Cs in order to convey that yes they are difficult, but they aren't out to fail you and ban you from the program.

And that'd exactly what i posted above! I think a lot of people do get C's because this is a masters in science as opposed to masters in nursing. If you get in for sure take those two classes ahead of time! I do like that they are realistic, that's probably why they offer that ANE 695 class. I just got a interview for another program, Barry may be my 2nd choice now.

Where else are you interviewing?

the actual interview was pretty quick and simple. They asked .. Why CRNA?, how do you handle stress, how do u handle criticism, how is your support system, ... Short and sweet, I had a lot prepared to say but they seemed satisfied with the brief interview which was fine by me.

The quiz was hard for me though, glad it doesn't count for anything.

They said we should hear acceptance notification 7-10 days from then which is great because it gives time to register for the two head start classes.

I had understood though that u can get c's for 7 credits or 2 clinicals so that's not necessarily 3 classes, but I may be wrong.

They also mentioned that they will have a wait list in case someone who had previously accepted drops out

....tired of checking my email, haha.

Yeah I feel ya, same here

I was really hoping they would let us know by today. Hopefully Monday then

Monday y'all! Fingers crossed!
