Just thought I'd start a thread for all of us applying! I'm planning on completing my application pretty soon. Taking the CCRN this week, and then I'll be ready to go! How are you all faring?
Also, does anyone know anything about the Tampa campus? I'm going to try and go for that one.
Anybody from the West Palm Beach area or know anything about the clinical sites? I was told there are still plenty of openings @ West Palm Beach, and if I switched my #1 choice to WPB it would definitely be available. I'm looking to rent out a room since I'm coming from out of town, and it definitely seems that rooms are fairly priced in the area! There's a lot of info on Orlando and Tampa, but not really much on the West Palm Beach location!

Some people have asked about Barry. I won't say which site I'm at for anonymity purposes (way too much drama in this field already), but I was accepted to several programs and ended up here because of last minute things happening. I really wish I had gone to another program. This program is not set up with the student's success in mind, but more of the mindset of "do this or not, we don't really care." Your clinical hours and didactic load the first year, starting in the summer, will be insane, and you will be learning information for exams only to vomit the info you cram into your brain beforehand. I am definitely learning a lot and becoming a well-trained CRNA, but that doesn't mean there are other, better programs out there, and there are a ton of things I've heard from all sites that feel this way. Orlando is the worst in terms of clinical hours and expectations while juggling full load of graduate level content and exams - no one cares about your study time while you're at clinicals, especially the Barry alumni who forget what it's like to be a student and say "well we all did it." Feels like the old nursing mentality of the same thought patterns. Anyway - I HIGHLY recommend applying to another program. If you come here, you CAN make it and be a great CRNA, sure - but all of my friends at other programs seem to have more support from their director etc (at the end of the day, crna school is hard anywhere, but there is some serious crap you deal with at Barry). Remember Barry is #90 something in rankings - prob for a reason. Congrats on all your hard work either way and stick together/leave your egos behind if you do come here!
