Just thought I'd start a thread for all of us applying! I'm planning on completing my application pretty soon. Taking the CCRN this week, and then I'll be ready to go! How are you all faring?
Also, does anyone know anything about the Tampa campus? I'm going to try and go for that one.
Wouldn't really say that competition is getting any more competitive than what it has been. I have 5 years critical care experience, mostly in CVICU, CCRN-CSC-CMC certifications, 3.6 overall GPA, 301 on GRE, applied in early April, and I still haven't been called for an interview. Was told that I have a "competitive application" which at this point don't think means anything. Would be interested to knowing what exactly they're looking for in applicants. All this waiting without a clear answer has become increasingly frustrating.
I got a call today for the interview on the 29th. I'm so excited but also nervous as it gives me only one week to prepare.
I know everybody said it's a very relaxing interview but I'm still worried mainly about the test we have to do. I heard it supposedly carries no weight on your admission but it must count for something otherwise they wouldn't do it.
Congrats guys. I got an interview everywhere else I applied and I know my stats are as competitive or even higher in many cases than people who are already admitted. They are really holding it against me for not being able to attend the interview last year, even though I explained what happened.
I asked how many spots they have left in the program and was told 25-30. Maybe some spots opened up because other people accepted offers from other schools? I recently shadowed again and spoke with the director of the program at the place I shadowed. He stated he usually accepts 10-20% more than their intended class size because a lot of people forfeit their spot for whatever reason (going to a different school, finances, or whatever else), and then 10% usually fail out on top of that. Not sure how Barry does it though, haha. Anyways, I'm just happy to have an interview. Good luck everyone.
Ok so I have a friend currently in Barrys program. She's at the Orlando campus. She tells me these horror stories that she feels the program isn't focused on making the students succeed. She recently had clinicals and then had a exam the following morning. Her case ran a few hours late (SRNAS must stay until the case is finished). She was supposed to get out at 3pm to go study but ended up leaving after 7pm. Is this type of situation a normal occurrence? She also had a OB final this past Monday ,and had clinicals Friday,Saturday and Sunday. Apparently a lot of the first years are making C's in the program because of this hectic scheduling. Students are only allowed 6 credit hours of a letter grade of C before they are kicked out. I want to know from current/past students is this something that you had to endure as well while you were in the program. I guess this is where time management skills come into play. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
I got an email today that my application is now being reviewed by the admissions committee. I just put it in 2 weeks ago. I take it there are still spots if they are still reviewing applications this late? Anyone have any recent numbers on spots left? I asked 2 weeks ago and she said she wouldn't know if there will be more interviews after this week or not until they reevaluate everything after this set of interviews.

I guess I misspoke, sorry. I was told 25-30 spots opened up. I assumed incorrectly.
