Published

Hi everyone! Just wanted to start a thread for those applying to the CRNA program at Barry University starting January 2016! Comments, Questions, Concerns, Advice...

Also, is anyone in Miami interested in starting a GRE study group?

Yes, I have PALS. It shouldn't stop you from being accepted as they look at everything else you've already accomplished.

Sounds awesome! Thanks a bunch!

Still waiting for the next load of interviews. Is anybody still checking their emails a few times a day to receive an interview offer?!

The wait is torture!! I was told by an admission administrator that if you are selected for an interview you will receive a phone call. An email is sent in the event that you are not chosen for an interview.

At Mel, yes we did receive a phone call first and an invitation letter shortly thereafter.

No need to worry too much. Your time will come. We all went through what you're going through. Nothing is guaranteed but then if you have your stuff together you will indeed get that chance. Don't worry, instead, have faith.

I will be starting at Barry this Spring 2016 as well. I was originally accepted for 2015 but had to defer for other reasons. I'm going to be taking the 3 Head Start classes and will be choosing either Palm Beach (my hometown) or Hollywood campus! PM me if you are interested in meeting up and are also starting in 2016!

Did Anyone take transition to anesthesia? The online course they offer. If so, how was it?? Was it worth it or should I look elsewhere?

It's worth it CRNA2b. It's a 2-in-1 coursework because it'll cover your chemistry portion as well as introduce you to the field of anesthesia. It was interesting.

I was going to take the course but I still needed a lab. I start my Chemistry course tomorrow.

Hey I was just wondering what type of ICU experience is preferred. I have 2 job offers right now one in a multi-system ICU and another at an SICU. Does it matter or as long as it's ICU I should be okay?

Specializes in ICU.

@ Abajbm..It doesn't matter. I work in MICU.

Okay thanks! What about the type of hospital. The SICU is at a huge level 1 trauma and the multisystem ICU is still a 24 bed ICU but the hospital is a smaller one within a large hospital system. Unfortunately the smaller one is in a more ideal location and I've been torn because I'm not sure how much it's going to affect getting into school based on the type of ICU and hospital. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!! :)
