Barry CRNA Starting 2016

Nursing Students SRNA

Hi everyone! Just wanted to start a thread for those applying to the CRNA program at Barry University starting January 2016! Comments, Questions, Concerns, Advice...

Also, is anyone in Miami interested in starting a GRE study group?

Hey RNKay I am currently trying to get myself equipped to go to CRNA school , I read somewhere you had taken your CCRN during your one year experience , Does that mean I can take it before 1 Year? Ill have one year of experience in June do you know around what time I can take the CCRN? or around what time you took that way I can have an idea ?

Hi there, you need 1750 critical care bedside hours to take the CCRN.

Were there organic chem questions on this exam?

@icunole

i did the head start (Chem/physics for anesthesia and the professional aspects class). Would highly recommend doing these if you can (or at least the Chem because its very time consuming). We started Jan.10th so we're almost 1 month in :) I am attending the Hollywood campus.

I reiderate what other people/ other Barry interview strings have posted: it was really laid back, no clinical questions, just a general get-to-know you. I walked out thinking: "that's what I was so stressed about??" :) The faculty are very nice and are not there to intimidate you.

There is a 20 question written exam with ccrn type questions and Chem questions ie. half life, what is the universal solvent.. Some molecular formula stuff which I attempted educated guesses on - had been a while since my last Chem class. I'm not sure how much or even if this affected our acceptance. I never saw my grade.

The interview day you also have the opportunity to meet a current student who answers any questions.

good luck!

Hi, CCRNCMC11,

Thank you for all the information you provided! It's very helpful!

You have mentioned that the program location you had requested is West Palm Beach. Is the full program being offered here in West Palm, or you still have to travel to other Barry locations for lectures and other activities like simulation labs?

Also, I'm thinking about taking ANE 695 course prior yo applying to the program. Have you heard anything about that class being helpful, and, if so, do you recommend it?

Thank you in advance!

Hey everyone! I really used this app a lot for advice when I was applying at Barry. I started this year and love it so far! If anyone wants to know anything feel free to ask! (I'll try to answer in between study breaks)

Hello

I am currently looking into the CRNA profession. I am in my 3rd semester of nursing school sitting at a 3.0 GPA. For the people who started the program in January how is it going so far? How did the head start courses help you? Do people fail out/drop out of the program frequently? Are your exams based on lecture materials, clinical experience or the books? What were some of your classmates/your gpa stats? I'm just worried because my GPA is low and I still have to go for my BSN after I graduate with my ASN so I'm hoping that will help boost up my GPA. Any advice for me as a hopeful Jan. 2019 student?
