Barry CRNA Starting 2016

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Hi everyone! Just wanted to start a thread for those applying to the CRNA program at Barry University starting January 2016! Comments, Questions, Concerns, Advice...

Also, is anyone in Miami interested in starting a GRE study group?

Congrats, littlemissgator!!!!!! It is so exciting!

Thanks and congrats to you as well!!! It really is exciting! I cried for a good hour!

Ecoomer01, there is a good amount of information about the interview on this thread and previous threads. In general, the interview is very straight forward and just getting to know you. There is a test of about 20 questions that cover basic ICU questions and chem. I hope that helps.

littlemissgator do you think I should get my CCRN with it being so close to January anyways? I may have mislead you.. I am 23y/o, and I just started my cardiac ICU job (as in last week). I do have over a year of experience in the neonatal ICU (level IV). We had ECMO, some 2-to-1 patients, but we see alot of diaphragmatic hernias, vents, UAC, UVCs, H.I.E, a ton of congenital hearts, and some dopamine/dobutamine drips. we do use a ton of fentanyl and versed.

yourtuRN: thank you for the information, it sounds like it will be not as stressful as I imagined. I appreciate your input! :D

Ecoomer, I know there are programs that accept NICU experience alone, so that may be enough to get you the interview. With over a year of experience you should be able to get your CCRN for the neonatal population if they set it as a provision for full acceptance. If they want you to get your CCRN for the adult population first, then I think you would need to do quite a bit of OT to make the qualifying hours by January. I think it's 1750 or so.... I would call and inquire about the likelihood of them requesting the CCRN for the adult population. Hope this helps.

I have not received a call for an invite yet. I may not get one. Congratulations to all who have been accepted and I hope the invitations to join the program keep rolling in. Best wishes to all.

I was accepted as well! Can we take advance research in the fall?! Or is it just the two classes chem and professional?

Congratulations everyone! I am so proud! I am still waiting for my call for an interview or not. If I don't get a call, I am going to keep on trucking and keep applying. On a lighter note, I just finished my summer Chemistry course with a B. I am proud of my B. Doing a whole chemistry course in two months is no joke. As soon as my official grade posts I am going to send it to Barry, sign up to take PALS and finally conquer the CCRN. I may as well retake the GRE as well too. I would like to be classmates with you all. We have been corresponding for so long. I will let everyone know how it pans out. Has anyone who is still waiting received word on when the August interviews will be exactly, or has anyone received an invite? Keep me posted and I will do the same. Once again, congrats to all!
