Banner Nurse Fellows Program

Published

I interviewed for the nurse fellows program through Banner about three weeks ago and still haven't heard anything! I was talking to another girl there for an interview who said that her friend (I know, I know, don't listen to anything like this, but I can't help it!) got a call a week after her interview offering her a slot. Has anyone else interviewed and heard anything?

I don't know why I'm so freaking out about it. I'm already accepted into Mesa to start in January (I deferred) but I WANT TO GET INTO THIS!

Re:Registration

I got my admission packet in the mail today. I was unclear if the advisors register us automaticaly or if we make an appointment with them and then they register us. Does anybody know how this works? My student loans are in re-payment this month. I need to get registered asap to show that I am full-time status to avoid paying them. Any info would greatly help :)

On the second page, it says that the nursing department will register you for your nursing courses. I think you need to make sure you are enrolled at Gateway though by filling out a student information form, if you have not done so already. I know someone else in our group called today and Gateway said we should be enrolled in the next couple of weeks. Hope this helps.

well congratulations to all the BNFP GWCC students.. its an awesome program. I was where all of you are less than a year ago.. how exciting for all of you. I start Block 4 in March and Graduate in June.. be prepared to devote alot of time to your studies, it goes along pretty fast.. Good luck... and at GWCC they have registered us for every block for us.. we didnt have to do anything but go pick up our box of books at the beginning and go buy our own uniforms they run about 90 for 1 set.. dont buy but 2 sets of the scrubs since you will only wear them 2 times a week for clinical and SIM lab days only ..

Hi everyone. I am completely new to this. I just got into the Banner Nurse Fellows program at MCC to start March 23rd. I have read that some of you are in that program too and some of you have met up. Let me know if anyone wants to meet up. I am soooo excited about started nursing school. IT WILL BE AWESOME =). Can't wait to meet all of you!

I am so excited! Just found out I am getting into the Banner Nurse Fellows at GWCC staring 3/23! Look forward to meeting those of you starting there!

Congrats!! There's a group of us that met up for coffee a couple of weeks ago and we're just as enthused to be a part of this program. Can't wait.:lol2:

To anyone in the BNFP @ MCC in March: This might be a stupid question, but we only wear our scrubs on lab/clinical days, right? And also I'm confused about the classes because on one schedule it says we are taking NUR151 first block, but then on the week by week schedule it says NUR104AB. So I guess my question is when I go to register do I just register for NUR151?

I am starting in March at MCC as well and from what I have heard... which are two things is that at orientation you get what you need to register but then I have also heard that BNFP actually does your schedule for you. SO i am not exactly sure which one it is but I am pretty sure it is NUR 151 first block because that is the class that starts 3/23.

To Binzbee

The NUR104AB class is not a required course it is an elective that Banner will pay for. My understanding is that the class will help you with critical test taking skills, so I assume that means they will help us learn how to test and note take for the nursing classes (look at the mini syllabus at MCC website). I'm going to take it since Banner is paying, heck it's only on Mondays for an hour.

Hope that helps, See you all on the 11th!

Hope that helps,

Kris1082,

Congratulations!!:balloons:

We will see you on 3/23.

I start MCC on March 23, and finals are the week of June 29th. What kind of breaks do we have between blocks? Also, our schedule shows 2 lab/clinical days for 8.5 hrs each. Do we go 2 days per week? I ask because my friend in the traditional program at SCC only had 1 lab/clinical day per week. Thanks for any insight!

From what I understand we are going to have two full days of lab/clinical per week. I am not sure about our breaks I think it will be something like 2 or 3 weeks, but at X-mas we should get a full month (at least according to a friend currently in the BNFP at Gateway).

Wow that would be awesome! I heard (rumor of course) that there were NO real breaks longer than a long weekend. Ha!
