Banner Nurse Fellows Program

Published

I interviewed for the nurse fellows program through Banner about three weeks ago and still haven't heard anything! I was talking to another girl there for an interview who said that her friend (I know, I know, don't listen to anything like this, but I can't help it!) got a call a week after her interview offering her a slot. Has anyone else interviewed and heard anything?

I don't know why I'm so freaking out about it. I'm already accepted into Mesa to start in January (I deferred) but I WANT TO GET INTO THIS!

Does anyone know what time our orientation is on March 11th? I was just told March 11th was the orientation for MCC cohort but was not told a time????

Its on the paperwork, orientation letter.

"Wednesday, March 11, 12:30 – 3:00pm at MCC, Building NU-6, Room NU-159"

See you there, and be prepared to get our heavy load of books that day too!

Specializes in Cardiac Care.

Check with the instructors because at Gateway the BNFP people HAVE to take the 104AB class. Its more like study skills and review for theory. For all others it's optional.

Specializes in labor & delivery.

Hi all

I just finished block 1 at EMCC/BF. We were never told that the 104AB class was elective. I don't know. Personally, I find it a waste of time. Our teachers do whatever they want with the hour and we've only had test prep once during that time. It's supposed to be a time for study/test skills. We did not get the full month off at x-mas--2.5 weeks only. We had 2 full days of lab per week until clinicals started. We just finished the lecture part but have clinicals for 3 more weeks and then block 2 starts in March. It's kind of a break. I have no idea how much time we will have between block 2-3. That's just the way EMCC does it. It may be totally different for other schools. Just wanted to share. I love being in the accelerated program. 1 block down, 3 to go. Congratulations and best wishes to all Banner Fellows. :yeah:

i am in banner mesa cohort 4 and i had a question about the schedule that we got...

sooo in week 9 we start clinicals..is it just wed/thurs or will they schedule you whenever meaning weekends as well?i just wanna make sure that weekends are free because unfortunately i am one of the unlucky ones that has to work at least 15 hours a week boooo

CANT WAIT for orientation!!

im so excited.:yeah:

ooops almost forgot another question..

i read somewhere that uniforms are around $250!? granted thats nothing compare to the fact that everything is paid for and i dont mind paying it but the paper we got shows the prices are around $30 a piece so how many of those things could we possibly need!?!?

ddr436,

I just bought my uniforms last week. You will only need two sets (because clinicals are only twice a week). I paid $90.80 with tax for the two whole sets. My friend just finished last semester and she said that you only need two sets.

ddr436-

Check around at Goodwill and Savers stores for uniforms. Also, if you know anyone who has been in the MCCD programs, ask if they have any scrubs. I have been able to get my scrubs (4 sets) from just asking around to friends and co-workers. Personally, I would rather wear secondhand scrubs that are just going to get more worn, than spend $100 on new scrubs that I won't ever wear once done with school. I also placed an ad on craigslist....keep your eye out. Much better than paying money out of pocket! :)

I am saddened to say that I have to defer my BNFP placement for the March 2009 cohort due to personal reasons. I am very fortunate that Banner is allowing me to do so. I was originally placed at Gateway and was thrilled for it was my first college of choice and heard great things about the program. I am now placed at Glendale for the July cohort. I know that all the colleges under MCC have the same nursing program guidelines and so forth. I was just curious to hear from anyone in the BNFP at Glendale. Thanks!!

sorry to hear that jbac, : ( hope all turns out ok for you... will miss you at orientation tomorrow @ gateway.. all the best.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I returned my books this morning for I know that they have found a replacement already who will need them after orientation today. It was a sad moment for me for I knew that in the next building, orientation was taking place. Sorry, just having a pity party for myself.:bluecry1: I am really okay though. The timing wasn't right for me and will be in the program in July. So all is well.

Enjoy your first block and your classmates. I know a few of them and they are awesome!!

Hi, I'm new to allnurses, so forgive me if I'm posting this in the wrong place: I'm about to apply for the October cohort, but I have an application I picked up at last summer's info session. Does anyone know if I can use this older application (just the dates give it away, I think) or should I attend another info session to get a new one?
