Has anyone had an interview for this program through gateway and Banner Health? Just curious because I would like to know the type of questions they ask you in order to get selected.
Hi Teri, you're probably right...I still have to take the 3 hcr classes before I can apply....just the thought of a 16 month program made me salivate lol! However, I have my family to consider. I would be totally submerged in the program and it wouldn't be fair to them.....hopefully we'll get in in January....have you narrowed down your choices yet?Mary
I'm with you, I can't really put my family in turmoil so I'm definitely going for Glendale's pt program as my #1 choice. Problem is, I'm not sure if I should put any other choices down. I'm afraid if I don't I may not get in in the spring, but there's really no other program that will work as well for me or my family. I'm sort of trying to figure all of this out before we have to resubmit our choices. If only GCC would come out and say "you for sure can get in in the spring" that would make it so much easier!!! :rotfl:
Did anyone hear about ASU's new Banner option for Spring 2006. Banner decided at the last minute to offer a BSN program at ASU East, classes held at night, clinicals on the weekends...16month accelerated program.
Ieeeyeeeyeee!!!! :rotfl: What's this? I'd love this option. This program would be marvelous for me!!! Where in the world have I been? I'm going to do some serious research on it and if I find anything I'll post it.
The thing is is that since it is through ASU, you have to meet all of ASU's requirements (take their required pre-reqs, the NET test, and their essay...) and hopefully get at least 5.8 pts out of 7pts total (your GPA...4.0 being the highest...1pt for the math NET, 1pt for the english NET, and 1 pt for the essay). Unfortunately, the deadline for this SPRING 2006 has passed, but I'm sure if you look into it, Banner might offer something for FALL 2006 (deadline is December 2005). A couple of my classmates in my CNA class wish that they pursued ASU's program instead of the community college program since it takes about the same amount of time to get your BSN (at least that is what they said). Anyway, once again, I do enjoy how Banner's ASU program is suitable for parents and how they pay for everything. The estimated ASU professional program cost (including tuition, books, fees, etc.) is around 11,000 for in state. If I'm not mistaken, I think you also have to be an Arizona resident since the out-of-state tuition is around 30,000.
If you would like to figure out more about the program, you can contact Banner Center for Health Careers at 602-747-8020. I also have a frequently asked question sheet if you have any more questions. Otherwise there are information sessions free for anyone to attend on the following dates:
August 19th (TOMORROW!!!) at 1:00pm-3:00pm
August 24th 3:30pm-5:00pm
August 29th 1:00pm-2:30pm & 3:00-4:00
The location will be held at the ASU East Campus (Polytechnic campus) in BUILDING CLRB, ROOM 120. I'm planning to attend tomorrow to ask more questions.
Mattsmom64,
I took HCR220 online at glendale community college SummerII and absolutely loved it. There were four quizzes, two papers, a journal, and discussion questions all done through the internet. However since you are probably used to posting here in allnurses.com, it should be fun for you. I had Ms. Robinson as a teacher. She was great! I definitely recommend it. :)
have you tried calling the admissions advisor at GCC? If you explain your situation she may at least give you an idea where you stand for Spring.....
I went and talked to Kristina last week and she couldn't tell me anything other than the standard nursing advisor catch phrase of it's a one to two semester wait! I know they really don't have the info to tell someone whether or not they'll get in, it's just frustrating the way the system is set up. She did say that there were less app's than usual, but it still seems like there's probably 30 people ahead of me for a 20 seat program...
I'm not sure how many people may have dropped out due to not passing a class or something or other, but from what I was told there was approximately 385 people who applied in Mar and June, and of that I'm probably #340 or so from what I figure.
Calzonan - did you go to the session last week? I was there...seems like a great program. I'm going to apply for the March class...
Yes, I was there. I was the one that discovered the essays weren't on the back of the application. Where were you sitting? I"d love to apply too, but it's hard for me to be so flexible in my schedule, I have 5 kids at home, three of whom I drive to three different schools. If I started a M-F course I'd have to totally disrupt their lives. My friend is applying though, maybe you'll go to class together. Good luck with your application!!!
Cool! That was you...good deal! I was sitting last row from the back directly in front of Alfreda, the GCC advisor. I was the skinny guy who asked a bunch of the questions. So you weren't the person who kept asking about the BSN! That was a hoot... :wink2:
NOoooo, that wasn't me. My friend was just about irate with that person. I remember you, I was in the last row too, but on the other side. Did you see my answer to you on the CC ? ? When did you apply? It seemed like a lot of people at that information session weren't even ready to begin applying.
