Banner health Nurse fellows program??

Published

Has anyone had an interview for this program through gateway and Banner Health? Just curious because I would like to know the type of questions they ask you in order to get selected.

I have a friend that interviewed in July and was accepted. He'll begin in October. I'll refer him to this message board and ask him to respond. I'm curious too!

I was going to post a similar message because I'm going to their information session tomorrow. Do you know if there are any openings for the Oct class or is it all full like everywhere else? TIA

It shouldn't be full. I believe that Banner doesn't make their selections until after the interview process. They are not part of the lottery system.

Bad news guys, the October class is full. The application period for the October class closed at the end of July. My friend got his interview in July and notification of acceptance shortly thereafter. Next application period is November for January start. I went to the information session in July. Basically, if you are interested in this program, you have to attend the info session to get an application. If you are considered, you'll get an interview. After the interview, they'll let you know if you're in.

It is the accelerated program through Gateway. Afterwards, you owe 3 years employment at one of the Banner hospitals. They try and place you where you want but can't guarantee a specialty (Banner Desert in OB vs. Med-Surg). The assured us that we'd be paid at competitive rates.

If you drop out of the program for any reason, the whole amount of the tuition is owed. (tuition + books) So, consider this very carefully. She gave an example of someone having a death in their family across the country that required a move back east, that's not allowed.

One interesting note though, she did say that there are folks out there that will pay off your "debt" to Banner in order to get you to work for them. She did not deny that this DOES happen.

Good luck!

Deanna,

Do the same rules apply to the Banner Community Nursing Assistance Program?

Mary,

I don't know. I haven't heard of this program. What is it and where did you hear of it?

Did anyone hear about ASU's new Banner option for Spring 2006. Banner decided at the last minute to offer a BSN program at ASU East, classes held at night, clinicals on the weekends...16month accelerated program.

oh yeah, they pay for books, fees, tuition, etc...but then you have a contract with them for three years... I find the schedule very flexible, especially for parents (night classes, weekend clinicals).

this sounds great! do you know how we can get more info?

I went to Banners information session today and they didn't mention ASU, but this was at Gateway so they probably didn't want to push another program. I'm assuming though, if it's anything like Gateway's fellowship program you already have to have your application in to a community college to apply, so I'd think you'd have to already have all the pre-req's done for ASU in order to apply for the fellowship at ASU. ASU has a lot more pre-req's before NS. It sounds like a great deal though, I'd love to know more. JCPena6, do you know where we can get more info? TIA
