Banner Fellows October cohorts

Hey all,

I know this is probably a stab in the dark, but thought I'd try. Any other Banner Fellows on here who have had to deal with Financial Aid? Gateway is telling me that for Block III, which starts in July for our cohort (X) we won't get our aid until SEPTEMBER since it's considered an early fall class. I don't know what I'm going to do! Anyone else dealt with this?

Thanks!

Hey all! I just wanted to see if there is anyone that is doing the Banner Fellows MCC October 2008 cohort that wants to get together before school starts to meet. If you do PM me. :)

Hi. I received my letter yesterday that I was accepted into the Oct 2008 cohort at Gateway.I waited a whole month for my letter to come and I was convinced I did not get in. I am so excited and would like to here from anyone who has been in the BFNP previously or is going to be in the same cohort as me.I have so many questions! To the people who have applied and didn't get in: please don't get discouraged. I just wanted to share that I didn't get in the first time I applied, but I refused give up on the opportunity. I am trying to figure out plans now with my job and how to keep Banner's great health insurance while I go to school. Is it possible to work weekends while in the cohort? Thanks for you help!

Carry on! :)

I went to the BNFP information session today and the facilitator said that they mailed letters out today. She told everyone that they mail all the letters at the same time, so as to not cause any confusion. She also explained that they still have openings for MCC for those with the bachelors and they had some openings for the October cohort at Estrella. Hope this helps! Good luck! :)

Is the new cohort at MCC in October for those with a bachelors for a BSN?? If not, what is different about it? Thanks.

Has anyone been accepted to Estrella? I received my letter Saturday and will be at the October cohort at Estrella. I am also wondering if school starts the same week as orientation or the following week.

Is the new cohort at MCC in October for those with a bachelors for a BSN?? If not, what is different about it? Thanks.

She said they had one specifically for people who already had their BSN. So, that is the difference. Let me know if you have any other questions. Like I said, I just went to the information session, I have not applied yet. :p

Hello! First of all, congratulations to everyone who got in!! I can't even imagine what it will finally feel like once I finally get into a nursing program. I've been on the MCCD waitlist since Oct. 2007. For those of you that got accepted into the BFNP, what do you think set you apart from getting accepted rather than rejected? I am applying for the March 2009 cohort at Mesa CC. The application is due Oct. 17, so I have some time still to answer the essay questions, but don't really know exactly what they are looking for! What did you guys write in your essay questions that you think set you apart from other hopefuls?? Also, what type of questions did they ask at the interview? And somebody posted here that they look at GPA and NET scores... is it just the gpa from the pre-requisites, or your cumulative gpa from all your classes you've taken in college? and will they accept asu NET scores or only NET scores from the community college? Sorry for all the questions! Thanks for any info you can give me!

Hi jeym good luck and keep with it. I am very very fortunate to have been selected. I have a really good gpa, but have gotten a couple b's. I did good on the NET test, but not the greatest. I've worked for Banner for 2+ years so I'm sure that helped me a lot. The interview wasn't too bad. The panel was really easy to talk with and they made the interview less intimidating. They asked questions like "tell us about yourself", "where do you see yourself in 5 years", and then they asked questions based on Banner's Mission and Values- "example of how you demonstrated excellence", "Leadership", etc. For the interview, I just made sure that I had ideas and good examples of things I had done that I could relate to their values.

In regards to the gpa that they look at, I'm not sure, but I would think that whatever classes you have taken on the transcript that you send them that they would look at all of the classes on that transcript. Not sure about ASU's NET.

Good luck, I hope everything works out for you. :D

I am interested to find out about the externships program? What is an extern and do you know the pay? I am going to apply for the Banner program and I would probably have to quit my current job and find a new one. How did you leave a job that paid that much?

Thanks

I am not in the Banner program, nor am I an extern, but I do know that to be an extern, you have to have already completed block 2 of the nuring program. And since you are not even in the nursing program yet, you are not eligible. Someone correct me if I'm wrong... hope this helps.

It sounds like people who applied for the October '08 cohort have been receiving their acceptance/rejection letters. I haven't heard anything yet... Is anyone else still waiting to hear? If not, does anyone know who I should contact? Thanks and good luck to everyone!!

Hello all, I just got into the October cohort at Gateway and I am so excited!! Anyone else? I would love to get to know some fellow fellows before orientation.
