Congrats on the new job and welcome to AZ!
I can't give any info on the unit or the kind of scrubs .... I'd contact the nurse mananger and/or nurse recruiter to ask about the kinds of scrubs.
Banner Desert is in Mesa, which is in the east valley. So I would look for apartments in that area ..... Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, etc.

I have a friend that works at Banner Desert in the PICU, as far as I know they're still wearing their own scrubs. Some of the Banner hospitals have gone to uniform scrubs, but not Desert as far as I know. I can't tell you about the staff, but can say it's a very busy hospital. As far as apartment complexes, I'd stay away from any real close to the hospital (not the best area of town). A couple of my friends live in an apartment complex that is brand new and off of Higley and the 202. It's not right near Banner Desert, but it's right off the freeway and easy to get to. It's also in a nice area of town (Gilbert). Will you have time to take a trip out and look around?
Good luck with your move and welcome to AZ,
Thanks guys for taking the time to give your feedback.I'm not sure if I will be able to visit the place prior to relocation but i'm hoping that i will be able to do that. What about Waterstone Apts in Mesa? How's the nurse -pt ratio in adult ICU? I'm both anxious and excited to move.I just hope that I made the right decision!
Where is Waterstone Apartments? Do you know the crossroads or anything? There are a TON of apartment complexes, but if you have a general idea of where it's located we can give you an idea of how the area is.

I believe most if not all the ICU units in Phoenix are busy. Welcome to Phoenix and enjoy the summer, at least you will have a few weeks to get accustomed to the weather.
Waterstone Apts is located in S Dobson Rd. Mesa,Az.I believe it's just near Banner Desert.Any apartment complex that you guys can recommend? Thanks again!
I agree with Keli, in that I'd stay away from anything real close to the hospital. It's not the best area of town. It's not dangerous, it actually looks pretty nice and you feel safe (there's a big hospital, big community college, and a mall right in that general area). But personally, I wouldn't live right in that area.

I'll PM you with some areas that you might want to check out.

My bf works security at that hospitals and tells me the staff is great. I live in the immediate area and its fine. A bit northeast of there is shady, but north, south and east of the hospital is fine. Waterstone is actually a nice complex, never been inside the apartments though. I am an a AZ native and love it here, hope you will too! PS, look into buying a home here, prices are low and the valley is an awesome place to live.

I work in the NICU at Banner Desert. We are all still wearing our own scrubs, although that is slated to change in 200.
The Waterstone is nice. Like most places there are good and bad areas. South of the hospital is better than north.
I live in Tempe, about 3 miles away. If you want statistics on crime check out this link:

the zip code of the waterstone is 85202.
The area is nice looking and there is a police station almost next door to the apts.

I agree that south of that area is better than north ..... try and look south of the 60.
