Who out there has had trouble with teachers gossiping about students, physically hitting the students, and not being prepared when they come to class?

physically hitting the students,

Uh, that is grounds for arrest - assault and battery, no matter who you are or how it happened, is illegal. IMO, I'd overstep all administration on this and call the police immediately.

The not-being-prepared-for-class thing was a problem last year.

The gossiping is rampant this year. I have already prepared (and still adding to) the 5 page typed letter that i will turn in after graduation. There is no sense in instructors running their mouth, making crap up about students, just to keep up competition between the classes. We're all for the ultimate goal here, unfortunately, we're a ****ing chess game to the ones in charge.

Nope..never happened. All my instructors are well prepared for each and every class, just like they want us to be. Very professional, caring, and willing to help.

Nope - I've never had this experience either - however wouldn't tolerate it no way, no how! The police and administration would be the first ones I called!

Am I the only one that thinks a first post like this is kinda suspicious?

Like, maybe a joke?

:chuckle

No joke. I have talked to administration several time. The girl that was hit filled charges...and the teachers are still there. Seems North Harris College has a thing called tenior. Major problems at this institution. I am trying to see if the Government can step in...thier Dean and President are out of control of the teachers and have no clue what is going on.

Go up the chain of command to get things handled. In the process of doing this myself, now i'm going to have to take this to the state.

I hope she filed charges with the state or local police, not the campus police. That way, the teacher can be arrested and charged. The college may not fire them for it, but if they are in jail (assault and battery CAN carry jail time), it will be pretty hard to teach from there, and I believe tenure can be thrown out the window due to something like that.

Being unprepared for class is bad, but hitting a student? If that happened to me, I'd be on the phone right away with the police, my attorney, the DA - whomever I could. That is just totally unacceptable.

gossiping is a given regarding students. as far as my school went....... uggg.

we didn't have a teacher hit a student but rather the opposite...... student hit teacher right at clinicals at the nurses station.!!!!!!!

this student was able to continue on........

Tenior doesn't protect a person against criminal charges. What's up with this? This isn't an internal matter, it's criminal. What would I do with a professor who physically hit me? I'd call the cops, file charges with the state and sue their asses and the school in a civil court.

Tenure, schmenure. This "instructor" doesn't belong in a teaching environment or around patients for that matter. Period. Keep making phone calls and popping into offices until this situation is put to a hault. It is unspeakable behavior and should not be tolerated.
