Hello all, I am an LPN and am currently getting my prereqs at TCC. I was pretty sure I would go into TCC's LPN-RN bridge but recently I had a conversation with 5 students from TCC's generic RN program and they told me essentially to "Run" from the program. Telling me the professors are extremely rude and belittling to their students, the program is extremely hard, and some went as far to say that they felt like they should have earned a masters degree for the amount of knowledge and stress they went through just to get an associates. Please help, is this true? I am thinking about not doing TCC now and going back to my original plan of going to OU LPN-BSN.

I'm completing my pre-reqs for the nursing program there at TCC and I've heard the same thing from a couple friends IN the bridge program already! They treat them like crap! One friend of mine, an LPN for 5 years and made straight A's all through school, is finding herself barely passing some of these classes!!! Absolutely ridiculous how they don't empower the students to learn more instead of belittling them....

I just dropped the past fall semester. I have seen and heard some pretty crapy things while I was there. People that are not from the U.S. are treated badly and I've seen what you are saying about them with the LPN's it's sad that they are like that. It was a huge mess!! No one would help with anything, and if you ask a question in clinicals you can pretty much bet your getting a U. We started out with about 20 and ended with 5. I've heard teachers talking gossiping about other students in lab one of whom was my friend from Egypt. I feel that they do not act professional. Shame on them. N-E way T.cc nolonger does LPN to Rn and they no longer have part time evening weekend either. I don't know what to do myself I go b/t going back which I don't really want to do, applying to keiser which is expensive or going to lively for LPN which everyone is saying is fading out. I feel T.cc has ruined my life. On my first test in ADH 1 i made the highest grade in my class but from there on out it was a nightmare. If you haven't already started that program I would recommend somewhere else, and god bless your friends.

I'm sick of TCC's bull. I will not be accepting a spot in the program if offered one for the fall.
The advisors are unhelpful and rude, the school won't accept my history credits (from my Bachelors degree - BA in HISTORY from the University of Nebraska from 2007) and TCC is making me jump through all sorts of hoops. I've had a bad experience with their CNA program - clinicals were horrendously organized/supervised, and I've heard the same about the RN clinicals. I will gladly pay the extra money and take the extra time taking the extra pre-reqs for OU-Tulsa's program, if everything I've heard about TTC's RN program and everything I've experienced with TCC firsthand is indicative of their program.

Just had to give a shout out for the OU Tulsa admission faculty/advisors, they love and want to help you! :) Sorry about all the bad luck with TCC
That is so good to hear, mommy.19. I've gone in person once to ask general questions and the woman I spoke with was really nice and encouraging. I've also had my transcript analyzed and talked with someone else over the phone several times about specific questions and always found them willing to help! I'm feeling better and better about my decision to go to OU-Tulsa. Have you had a good experience with their program? How are clinicals?
Program has been great, busy, difficult to manage at times but I'd never take it back to do anything else. Clinicals are a little shifty, just as disorganized as TCC sometimes but it all works out in the end. They want the reputation, and they want hospitals to WANT OU grads. I know places that see people are from TCC and they whisper "oh crap". I mean, I know it is not indicative of the large percentage of people that go there but it could definitely be a reflection of the faculty and those that govern the program. Many places will not allow TCC to do clinicals at their facility anymore.

If the professor’s at TCC are so bad with their students, I wonder why nobody have placed a formal complaint about them? My husband was going to another class in a different program at TCC and his professor was really aggressive with his students. This caused for many people to drop the class. I encouraged my husband to report the professor to the dean and they followed the case and verified what my husband was saying was right and fired the professor. I applied for the nursing program and I hope I get accepted but I hope I won’t encounter all these people L

I've had a fairly good experience with TCC *instructors* for my pre-reqs - my negative issues have been with the nursing department and advising/registration departments. My anatomy professor was an oddball and not a good teacher, but the rest of my instructors have been really solid. I LOVED my microbiology professor last semester, and my current physiology professor is great. My online classes have also been really smooth and easy. I like TCC for pre-reqs, but I will be turning them down if I get accepted for fall 2010 nursing. I'm not even going down that road.

So far I have not had a problem with TCC's nursing program. The profesors have been hard but that's to be expected. It's nursing school, if you don't want to go to TCC why even apply for the nursing program. One problem I think is that the pre-reqs do not prepare you for the program, nursing class require a different level of thinking.
